NFL player props for the 'Fantasy Guy'
We all know Fantasy Guy.
You might even be a Fantasy Guy, someone who tells anybody within earshot about their NFL fantasy team and the strategy behind every decision related to it. Fantasy Guy is insufferable, but especially for those of us who bet player props. What is a player prop?
It's a wager where you attempt to predict a specific player's statistical output over the course of a game.Depending on the magnitude of the game, the willingness of the book to take risk and the player's position on the field, different availability for player props will be offered.
On an NFL game BetAmerica will offer props on things like a quarterback's touchdowns thrown, yards thrown for, completions, passing attempts, rushing yards and typically a few more different statistical categories in an Over/Under format. You can be dead-wrong about the outcome of the game, but spot-on for the game within the game, similar to fantasy sports.
What makes player props so great and so much better than fantasy is that being right about a player's statistical domination (or lack thereof) gives you the opportunity to make a financial score based off a singular statistical category. You aren't just racking up a few more points in your fantasy league or getting a win against a guy you haven't even seen in 10 years. You also aren't reliant on other players' statistical output or the mercy of other gamblers' picks like we see in the daily fantasy structure. Player props are great for the guy who is ready to graduate from the Fantasy Guy to real gambler.
