49ers' Super Bowl odds slip, but can they still win it all?
The San Francisco 49ers took a shocking defeat at home to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The Niners' Super Bowl odds took a hit, with a move from +450 to +700, but let's not overreact to this upset. If we look at the big picture, San Francisco is still a team that deserves to be the favorite in the NFC and right there with Baltimore as the overall favorite.
Odds to win the Super Bowl
Team | Odds |
---|
Baltimore Ravens | +220 |
New England Patriots | +530 |
New Orleans Saints | +550 |
Kansas City Chiefs | +600 |
San Francisco 49ers | +700 |
Seattle Seahawks | +800 |
Green Bay Packers | +1200 |
Minnesota Vikings | +2500 |
Dallas Cowboys | +2800 |
Philadelphia Ealges | +3200 |
Why the 49ers should still be favorites
San Francisco is still in control to win the NFC West and get the No. 1 seed in the conference. The 49ers will face the Rams and Seahawks in the final two weeks of the season. With a final record of 13-3, they would win the division and at worst finish in a three-way tie with the Packers and Saints for the best overall record. The Niners defeated both of these teams to give them the tiebreaker edge. If they end up with home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, they will absolutely be the favorite to win the NFC.

San Francisco's losses have all been close
The Niners' three losses all came on last-second plays. They lost to the Seahawks in overtime on a field goal, they lost to the Ravens on a last-second field goal and Sunday's defeat to the Falcons came on a last-second touchdown pass. The Niners have outscored their opponents 419-258 this season. That +161 point differential is the third-largest margin in the NFL, which trails only the Patriots and Ravens.San Francisco is also extremely balanced in its statistical ranks. The 49ers are second in the league in points scored and fifth in points allowed. They are 6th in the league in yards gained and second in yards allowed. The Niners are also fifth in the league in takeaways and third in sacks. This team can do it all and finds so many ways to win football games.

Predictions
The Niners will bounce back from this shocking defeat and take down the Rams on Saturday night. This will both end the Rams' season and make the 49ers' Week 17 matchup with the Seahawks an NFC West championship game. The last time the Niners won in Seattle was Christmas Eve in 2011.I still love this team to run the table in the NFC and meet the Ravens for a rematch in the Super Bowl. These odds are too good to pass up.
NFL futures still look juicy, but there are also still two weeks of regular-season NFL games to wager on at BetAmerica!
