Boost the Bankroll: NFL Five-team, Six-point Teaser Play in Week 2 for 2024
Defenses often have the upper hand early in the season. Only two quarterbacks threw for more than 300 yards in Week 1, and Week 2 kicked off with Josh Allen throwing for only 139 yards in a 31-10 win over Miami on Thursday night.
YouBet.com likes a five-team, six-point teaser play (+400) in Week 2. Lines are adjusted below for the six-point teaser, odds courtesy of BetMGM and all times listed are Eastern.

New Orleans at Dallas (1 p.m.): UNDER
Dallas (33 points) and New Orleans (47) lit up the scoreboard in their respective wins last week, but defense will be the primary storyline in Week 2. The Cowboys were limited to 265 total yards, as Micah Thomas (11 total pressures) and their defense dominated Cleveland, and New Orleans faced woeful Carolina. Dallas lacks a viable rushing attack and while their offensive line held up well against Cleveland’s pass rush, the Cowboys are still relying upon a pair of rookies. And we don’t trust Derek Carr. Alvin Kamara needs to have a big game for New Orleans to win, but Dallas will be able to slow their star running back. We expect a close game, but Under is the main play.
Tampa Bay at Detroit (1 p.m.): UNDER
Detroit ultimately wore the Rams down last week, rallying late to force overtime in the fourth quarter and rushing eight consecutive times for a game-winning touchdown in the extra session, and the Lions received the top-ranked pass-blocking efficiency score (82.8) from PFF in Week 1. Their physicality on both lines of scrimmage will be the difference here. Baker Mayfield played well against a bad Washington defense, completing 24 of 30 passes for 280 yards and four touchdowns, but Tampa Bay’s ground game rates as a legitimate concern after their running backs put up only 93 rushing yards last week. The Buccaneers own a good defense and with Detroit still trying to find their offensive rhythm, the Under is appealing.
Cleveland at Jacksonville (1 p.m.): CLEVELAND
Dallas took away the run game from Cleveland last week, resulting in a lopsided outcome, but the Browns will get back on track versus Jacksonville. The Jaguars made Miami’s defense look good in Week 1, coughing up a double-digit halftime lead by being held scoreless in the second half. They only had 267 total yards, and Jacksonville’s offensive line woes will be exploited by Cleveland. It’s impossible to have much faith in the Browns’ offense, but they’re better than shown in Week 1 and this one could easily come down to defense. We’ll grab the points.
New York Giants at Washington (1 p.m.): WASHINGTON
Washington’s weak pass defense enabled Tampa Bay to do whatever they wanted in the opener, as Baker Mayfield threw for four touchdowns, but the Commanders’ run defense is better than the final score indicates. Excluding Mayfield’s three scrambles, Washington held Tampa to 93 rushing yards on 27 carries, and this match up plays to their strength. Daniel Jones is a mess, lacking job security and confidence after throwing 186 yards and two interceptions on 22-for-42 passing, and the Giants will have to rely upon gaining rushing yards. Minnesota was up 28-6 after the third quarter last week, things are bad in New York, and Washington still has a sense of optimism heading into the first home game with new ownership and coaching staff. Jayden Daniels did some good things while taking his lumps in the opener, completing 17 of 24 passes for 184 yards and rushing for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and the rookie quarterback will continue to make strides against the Giants.
Chicago at Houston (8:20 p.m.): UNDER
With a bad offensive line, Caleb Williams will need time develop, but Chicago’s defense bailed them out in last week’s 24-17 win, forcing three Tennessee turnovers and dominating after the Bears fell into an early 17-0 hole. The Bears have the potential to frustrate Houston, and we expect a strong defensive showing from both teams. The Texans surrendered a pair of 50+-yard touchdown passes to Indianapolis, but they kept Anthony Richardson mostly in check when in the pocket (9-for-19) and held Jonathon Taylor to 48 rushing yards on 16 carries. Both teams have offensive weapons, but their defensive units are trending up and we like with the Under.
