What can you say about the record-setting performance for the United States against Thailand? The Americans' 13 goals was the most ever in a World Cup match, and 10 goals in the second half is also a Women's World Cup record. Still, they're only looking to improve and leave no doubt that they're the team to beat in the tournament. They haven't allowed a goal in their last six matches, and the last time the two teams played was in a pair of friendlies during the Labor Day weekend, with the U.S. winning by a combined 7-0 score. The Americans will once again push to put up a ton of goals and keep a clean sheet on the scoreboard.Chile is coming off a 2-0 loss to Sweden in its World Cup opener and will need a victory for a chance at advancing out of the group stage. The Chileans will need better play from Francisca Lara, Yaneda Aedo and Maria José Rojas if they're going to have a chance against the Americans. Can they hunker down on defense and do enough to frustrate the Americans into making a mistake? They're certainly capable, but it will take a herculean effort to get the upset.
Don't expect the Americans to put up another double-digit number against Chile, but the United States should win handily, 5-0.
