Premier League Gameweek 9: The best player prop bets for Salah, Foden, and Kane

The Premier League is heating up, and we’ve separated the scary anomalies from the top quality teams as we enter Halloween season. Tottenham have fallen from their early pedestal and left us with what looks like an intriguing title race between Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man City.

This weekend we have a classic rivalry renewed as Liverpool take on Manchester United, Pep Guardiola’s Man City travel to a resurgent Brighton as they try to keep tabs on Chelsea, and there’s a London Derby to get stuck into as Tottenham clash with West Ham. 

Manchester United vs. Liverpool: Mo Salah to score a goal (+133)

The biggest game of the weekend sees Liverpool travel across to Old Trafford to face fierce rivals Manchester United. While Jurgen Klopp’s men are flying in all competitions, the pressure is mounting on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and defeat could result in the coach getting his marching orders.

One man who has lit up Liverpool’s season and is right at the top of the conversation for this year’s Ballon D’Or is Mo Salah. He has made this column a few times this season already and for very good reason, as he’s played 11 games in all competitions and scored in 10 of them.

He has seven goals in his last eight league games and has four goals in his last four games against Manchester United. There is no player on the pitch in hotter form than Salah right now.

No player in the Premier League has had more shots (33), shots on target (19) or goals (7) than Salah this year, and he comes into this match with a conversion rate of 21%. The numbers are incredible.

More than a third of his attempts on target have resulted in a goal, giving keepers across the top flight nightmares – none more so than United shot-stopper David De Gea, who has only kept one clean sheet this season and conceded four goals against Leicester last week.

In his Man United career, De Gea has only kept seven clean sheets in 22 matches with Liverpool (31%), and he will no doubt be dreading facing Salah on Sunday.

Brighton vs. Manchester City: Phil Foden to score a goal (+215)

Phil Foden might not top your list of Manchester City scorers each week, but he is certainly worth another look away to Brighton at +215.

Despite just having two goals in all competitions this season, the Englishman scored in both games against the Seagulls in the league last year and can keep that run going. Brighton have been the surprise package of the Premier League, sitting in the top four and keeping four clean sheets in eight games, but now they face the might of Man City.

Pep Guardiola’s side have scored 16 goals in eight games and are the second-highest scoring team in the league. In 13 games across all competitions this season they’ve put five goals or more past five different sides, unleashing their huge array of attacking power.

Foden has had five shots in the league this season and every single one has hit the target. He’s going to get chances in this high-powered offense, and he clearly has an eye for goal, so he looks like the best value play this weekend.

West Ham vs. Tottenham: Harry Kane to score a goal (+155)

Finally! After six Premier League games without a goal, Harry Kane silenced the critics by getting off the mark after 22 minutes against Newcastle last week. It was a long time coming and came off the back of a wild summer where it looked incredibly likely that he was going to sign with Manchester City.

Now that transfer distraction is hopefully behind him, he can get back to full speed and there’s no better time to back him than in a game with London rivals West Ham.

Kane’s record against the Hammers is electric, as he has 11 goals in 16 league games against them. The only team he has scored more goals against in the league is Leicester, and he has four goals in his last four games against West Ham, so hopefully that can help reignite his spark.

The Hammers have performed well this year but have leaked goals, conceding in six of their eight matches so far. Kane hasn’t been firing on all cylinders up to this point, but hopefully he can find the back of the net in East London now that the monkey is off his back.
