MLS preview: Seattle Sounders at Montreal Impact

Major League Soccer's key matchup this week is a Wednesday meeting between the Montreal Impact and the Seattle Sounders in Montreal.
Best Play: Sounders at +260
Montreal enters the match with inconsistent form. The Impact has only one win in their last five matches and has dropped to fifth in the Eastern Conference. It's important for Montreal to score quickly if they want to get a victory and its success normally comes when scoring in bunches, especially at home. The Impact will be missing left back Daniel Lovitz, who will be on international duty with the United States, but the biggest loss will be Nacho Piatti, who is out with a knee injury suffered last week. Without him the Impact will have serious trouble creating offense and finishing inside the final third.
The Sounders have lost their last couple matches, which has dropped them to third in the Western Conference. They are well off the pace of leader Los Angeles FC but have a chance to steal points on the road before the Gold Cup break. The issue for the Sounders is that the road has been unkind to them so far on the season, and they have a 1-3-3 record away from CenturyLink Field. If they want to get points against Montreal, they will have to attack the Impact defenders, particularly down the right flank.
This match will be a slow affair, but should heat up in the second half. The Impact has lost a lot of firepower with Piatti sidelined, so the Sounders are the best play at +260. A 2-0 Seattle victory (+1450), including one goal from the penalty spot (+775), is certainly possible, given Montreal's inability to create offense with Lovitz's absence on the back line.
Expect it to be ugly, but Seattle will take the three points on the road by any means necessary.
