EPL game of the week: Leicester City vs. Chelsea

The match of the week will take place Saturday, when Leicester City, currently in third place in the English Premier League, will host fourth-place Chelsea. All of the previous five matchups between these two teams have been fiercely contested. Two were decided by a goal and three ended in a draw.

If these teams want to put some daylight between them and the rest of the table to solidify their Champions League standing, this is a big match to win. Who will have the edge Saturday?

Leicester City has been inconsistent lately

The Foxes have 48 points and are only three points out of second in the table. If they want to make up ground on Liverpool, who sits 19 points ahead, they need to take care of business against Chelsea. The problem is their form has been inconsistent lately. While they pummeled West Ham 4-1 back on Jan. 22, they have gone 3-2-0 in their last five matches. That’s not going to get it done if they want to hang onto their top-four positioning.

One player who they will need to get back in the groove is Jamie Vardy. The English striker has four goals in the team’s last 10 matches, but he hasn’t scored in more than a month.

Scoring has been an issue for Chelsea

The Blues sit eight points behind Leicester, and they've gone 2-1-2 in their last five matches, including an exciting 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Jan. 21. But in the past 10 matches, they only have 13 goals, and they’ve been shut out three times.

Jorginho has been Chelsea's leading scorer lately, but advanced production from Tammy Abraham, Willian, and Mason Mount is essential until Christian Pulisic returns to the lineup.

Prediction: Draw (+265)

Leicester and Chelsea have drawn three of their last five matchups, including two scoreless draws. This match doesn’t seem set up for another scoreless affair, but it does appear that both teams will only be able to manage another deadlock. Kelechi Iheanacho (+135) will score for Leicester, and Jorginho (+350) will score again for Chelsea.
