Bettors at odds over MLS Cup 2020 winner
As the countdown continues towards kick-off of Major League Soccer’s silver anniversary season, bettors remain at odds over which team will be crowned champion in October.
The top two teams in BetAmerica’s MLS market have both been lengthening as opening weekend approaches, with favorite the Los Angeles FC sliding from +250 to +350, and second favorite Atlanta United easing from +333 to +400.
Of the top six teams in the market, only defending champions, Seattle Sounders, have attracted support at BetAmerica, shortening from +700 to +600.
Odds to win the 2020 MLS Cup
Team | MLS Cup Odds |
---|
Los Angeles FC | +350 |
Atlanta United | +400 |
Seattle Sounders | +600 |
Los Angeles Galaxy | +700 |
New York City FC | +750 |
Toronto FC | +1000 |
Real Salt Lake | +1600 |
New York Red Bulls | +1600 |
Montreal Impact | +1800 |
Minnesota United | +2000 |
Portland Timbers | +2000 |
Sporting Kansas City | +2200 |
"The Sounders are a similar team to the one that lifted last year’s MLS Cup and our players think they can become the first to go back-to-back since the LA Galaxy in 2012," said BetAmerica’s Andrew Brown.
There has been plenty of action for teams at longer prices, with Real Salt Lake’s odds more than halving from +3300 to +1600, and the Portland Timbers being crunched from +5000 to +2000.
BetAmerica players don’t see new team Nashville SC being involved at the pointy end of the season, with their odds of being champions the highest of any team at +10000. The MLS’s other new team, Inter Miami, have moved from +2000 to +2500.
