When you bet in poker, almost all poker games are based on standard poker hand values. YouBet has listed and explained these hand values below for you to study.

Standard Poker Hand Values

(Listed from Highest to Lowest Value)

The following is a description of all the hands that you can assemble in standard poker. Most variations are based on standard poker and use similar value rankings.


Royal Flush

When you have the 10, J, Q, K, A of the same suit.

Poker Royal Flush

Straight Flush

Cards are consecutive and of the same suit.

Poker Straight Flush

Four of a Kind

Combination of the same card value from all suits (e.g. 4, 4, 4, 4)

Poker Four of a Kind

Full House

Combination of a pair and three-of-a-kind (e.g. 3, 3, 4, 4, 4)

Poker Full House

Flush

All cards in your hand have the same suit and are non-consecutive.

Poker Flush

Straight

Consecutive card values through all five cards (e.g. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

Poker Straight

Three of a Kind

Also known as “trips” with three cards of same value.

Poker Three of a Kind

Two Pair

Two sets of matching card values.

Poker Two Pair

One Pair

Also known as two-of-a-kind, two cards with the same face value.

Poker Pair

High Card

Nobody has a “hand” but you have the highest card.

Poker High Card

In instances when opposing players have identical hands, the one that has the higher card value wins. An example would be two players that have a pair of 5, 5 and 9, 9. In this instance, the player representing 9’s would win the pot. Another instance is if two players have straights of 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. In that instance, the higher straight wins.
