Carolina Hurricanes (+130) at Boston Bruins (-160) 3 p.m. ET, NBC
Carolina had a six-game win streak heading into the Eastern Conference Final. In Game 1, Boston ended the Hurricanes' run with an impressive 5-2 win. Although it was a bad loss, there is a silver lining for Carolina. The Hurricanes held a 2-1 lead into the third period. If not for Boston’s goal explosion in the third, Carolina might have hung on for the win. The Hurricanes should make some adjustments to prevent Boston from scoring so many goals in the final period in Game 2.
Even if the Hurricanes adapt, though, it will be difficult to beat the Bruins on Sunday. Boston earned its fourth win in a row following the result in Game 1. The offense is on fire, while goalie Tuukka Rask is playing at a high level. Rask allowed only two goals from 31 shots for a 93.5% save percentage.
The trends point toward Boston winning Game 2. The Bruins are 6-0 in their last six conference final games. Carolina is 1-6 in the last 7 meetings and 0-5 in the last 5 meetings in Boston. The home team is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings.
Carolina could bounce back, but Boston staying hot is more likely to happen. Look for the Bruins to win.
