Panthers vs. Oilers: The best player prop bets for Jan. 20
Hot meets cold tonight in the Great White North as the Florida Panthers (26-8-5) visit the Edmonton Oilers (18-15-2). The Panthers have been playing sensational hockey all season long and are one of the hottest teams in the league at the moment, having won eight of their last 10 games. Then there’s the Oilers, who started off extremely strong but have been stymied since the beginning of December, and have won just three of their last 15 games.
The spotlight tonight will be on Panthers winger Jonathan Huberdeau, who leads the league in assists with 38, and has arguably been the most dangerous playmaker in the NHL this season. Will Huberdeau be able to seize his chance this evening and prove he belongs in the MVP conversation alongside Edmonton’s Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl?
Puck drop is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET, and we have the three best player prop bets below.
JONATHAN HUBERDEAU TO SCORE AT LEAST 2 POINTS
Huberdeau's sensational season shouldn't be a surprise to true hockey fans. The third pick overall in the 2011 NHL Draft, he has always neared or exceeded a point per game in his 10 career seasons, racking up a total of 368 assists and 183 goals in 630 games played.

Although his eight-game point streak was snapped last game against Calgary, the recently named 2022 All-Star was able to tally an incredible 20 points (5G, 15A) in that stretch. With the Panthers scoring at the league’s second best rate of 4.05 goals for per game, bettors should expect Huberdeau to be in the mix for a multi-point game tonight.
PICK: YES (+140)
LEON DRAISAITL TO SCORE A GOAL ANYTIME
Although his pace has slowed down lately, Draisaitl is still a prolific goal scorer that loves to play up to the occasion against fellow studs like Huberdeau.
With only three goals in his last 10 games, the 2020 Art Ross winner hasn’t been tormenting the league on the score sheet like he usually does, but make no mistake, he’s also not going into a deep slump anytime soon.
Also recently named to the All-Star game with 26 goals this season, Draisaitl is a threat to score every night, and we particularly like his chances this evening at home.
PICK: LEON DRAISAITL ANYTIME GOAL (+100)
CONNOR MCDAVID TO SCORE AT LEAST 2 POINTS
Edmonton’s other superstar, Connor McDavid was recently named the captain of the Pacific Division for the 2022 NHL All-Star Game in Las Vegas, and will be participating for the fifth time after another solid campaign of 53 points (19G, 34A) this season.

Personal accolades aside, McDavid has been feeling the pressure during the Oilers’ recent skid as he has recorded four pointless games in his last 10 played. That includes his last game, where Edmonton blew a 3-1 lead to Ottawa, and lost 6-4. Serenity now, Oilers fans.
While seeing multiple pointless games in the same stretch is not typical for the phenom, the pattern is turning into a trend that we think will continue. Until the Oilers can collectively pull themselves back to their winning ways and not have to rely on McDavid and Draisaitl every night to carry them, McDavid may struggle to post multi-point games.
PICK: NO (-112)
