Connor McDavid favored to lead NHL in points scored

Connor McDavid

McDavid, who notched the most points in 2017 and 2018, is on pace for 148 points this year, as the overachieving Oilers (16-7-3) continue to show the way in the Pacific Division. He has found the scoresheet in 11 straight games, with 12 goals and 12 assists in that span. McDavid may not be able to sustain this kind of pace over 82 games, but he appears well on his way to a fourth straight 100-point campaign. However, he will continue to receive competition close to home for the Art Ross Trophy throughout the year.

Leon Draisaitl

The 24-year-old Draisaitl, who typically plays on Edmonton’s top line with McDavid, is currently the NHL leader in points at 48, one better than his teammate through 26 games. Draisaitl has only scored three goals over his last 11 contests, but if he can rediscover his shooting touch, he could earn his first Art Ross Trophy.

David Pastrnak

The league leader in goals (20), Pastrnak should not be discounted in this market. He is currently tied for third-choice with Bruins teammate Brad Marchand, even though he trails Marchand by three points (39-36). Pastrnak has seven goals in his last 10 games but just two assists. However, it’s not like he’s averse to passing, as he notched five assists in a game against the Rangers on October 27.

Dark horse: Nathan MacKinnon

MacKinnon has yet to post a 100-point season in his seven-year career, but this one could be his first. The Avalanche All-Star is on pace for 117 points through 23 games and failed to score a point in only four of those tilts. Underdog players could do far worse in this market.
