Week 6 NFL Power Rankings

1. Los Angeles Rams (6-0 SU, 3-2-1 ATS) The LA Rams were tested in Denver but overcame their biggest challenge of the year in the end. They may be a more difficult team to bet than most others, but being undefeated secures them the top spot in our Week 6 power rankings.

Next Game: Los Angeles Rams @ San Francisco (+10)

2. Kansas City Chiefs (5-1 SU, 6-0 ATS) Kansas City pushed New England as far as they could possibly go and the Patriots barely escaped. Mahomes handled the pressure and this team made great use of their trackstar weapons. This is still a serious contender in our eyes. Also, please stop throwing beer at players, everyone.

Next Game: Cincinnati @ Kansas City (-5.5)

3. New Orleans Saints (4-1 SU, 3-2 ATS) Is New Orleans back? We think so. After a sucker  punch from Tampa Bay this team has rebounded for hard fought wins and finally got their blowout gift in primetime. The Saints are rolling on offense, picking it up on defense, and look to be back in the NFC mix.

Next Game: New Orleans @ Baltimore (-2.5)

4. New England Patriots (4-2 SU, 3-3 ATS) When you beat our second ranked team it’s hard to keep you out of the Top 5, and the Patriots have earned their rising rank over the last few weeks. Yes, they barely escaped the Chiefs at home, but the fact is that they won and in the NFL that’s as good as gold.

Next Game: New England @ Chicago (+3.5)

5. Los Angeles Chargers (4-2 SU, 3-3 ATS) Los Angeles’ little brother team is scrappy. There are still some holes in the Chargers, but a total blowout of Cleveland in The Land was just what this team needed to show the world they can travel, they can hit, and they deserve some light in the NFL discussion. If only the city of Los Angeles cared about this team they way they should.

Next Game: Tennessee @ Los Angeles Chargers (-6.5)

6. Baltimore Ravens (4-2 SU, 4-2 ATS) The Ravens have really turned this season around since losing to Cincinnati in Week 2. This roster isn’t as stacked as most in the NFL but they’re playing really well lately and managing to get wins in some tough spots. They’re as scary as anyone at this point in the season.

Next Game: New Orleans @ Baltimore (-2.5)

7. Philadelphia Eagles (3-3 SU, 2-4 ATS) The Eagles still have a bit of Super Bowl credit to their name and a pounding of the Giants doesn’t add a whole lot of credibility to their ranking. However, this is still one of the best rosters in football and it’s only a matter of time until they start lighting people up.

Next Game: Carolina @ Philadelphia (-4.5)

8. Minnesota Vikings (3-2-1 SU, 3-2-1 ATS)  Minnesota is finally clicking, and boy does it feel good to see this team fire on all cylinders. The upgrade to Kirk Cousins has definitively improved this offense, even with a lacking ground attack. That actually makes Cousins' performances even more incredible - defenses know he's going to be airing it out, and they're still having trouble stopping him.

9. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2-1 SU, 3-3 ATS) Pittsburgh always has Cincinnati’s number, and that is a fact Bengals fans will always have to live with. Whether Bell comes back or not, the Steelers are starting to pick up on offense where they left off last season. The Steel Curtain feels like its made from paper towels, and the only saving grace in that regard is that a lot of other top-10 teams have porous defenses. By the way, it's Week 7 and the Steelers are on a bye so open up the doors on the Le'Veon Bell watch party.

10. Green Bay Packers (3-2-1 SU and 2-4 ATS) We want to put Green Bay up higher, we really do, but injuries aren’t helping Aaron Rodgers make up for his coaching staff. The Packers should be a top team in this league but they are consistently out-coached and it’s holding the Pack back. I know that every announcer who calls his games wants to praise Aaron Rodgers to the high hills (and he deserves it), but the fact remains that the Packers have nearly lost two prime time efforts to the lowly Bears and the even lowlier 49ers. Frankly, they're lucky that a lot of other would-be-contenders aren't performing up to snuff.

11. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3 SU, 3-3 ATS) Maybe Jalen Ramsey should bit his tongue when talking smack about every quarterback in the league when his quarterback is Blake Bortles.

12. Detroit Lions (2-3 SU, 4-1 ATS) The Lions might be really good, but they also might be completely horrible, and each week is a total toss up as to which one you’re going to see. With all this talent the Lions shouldn’t be stuck in this non-Top 10 purgatory but they just haven’t earned anything else yet.

Next Game: Detroit (-3.0) @ Miami

13. Carolina Panthers (3-2 SU, 2-3 ATS) Carolina returned a healthy Greg Olsen last week but it wasn’t enough to stop the train that was Washington after their primetime loss to the Saints. This team in a groove can be difficult to topple and they’ll have a chance to bounce back on the road this week. One thing that would help is if they stop playing up-and-down to the level of their competition. This Eagles game is a huge statement moment for them.

Next Game: Carolina @ Philadelphia (-4.5)

14. Washington Redskins (3-2 SU, 3-2 ATS) If anyone can figure out the Washington football team please let us know as soon as possible. They are getting good production running the ball (from Adrian Peterson no less!) and just end up on the right side of a lot of breaks. Whether or not this is sustainable is now the question. It doesn't feel like it is, but then again they're favored at home against a Cowboys team that just ran through the Jaguars.

Next Game: Dallas @ Washington (-1.5)

15. Cincinnati Bengals (4-2 SU, 4-2 ATS) Death, taxes, and Cincinnati blowing a game against Pittsburgh. The Bengals are very talented on both sides of the ball but they’re still one of the most mediocre teams in the league. Marvin Lewis is still Marvin Lewis and the Bengals will always be what they are when he’s around.

Next Game: Cincinnati @ Kansas City (-5.5)

16. Denver Broncos (2-4 SU, 1-4-1 ATS) Denver plays so poorly outside of Mile High it makes them very difficult to depend on. They’ve managed to keep it close and challenge solid teams at home, but they don’t have it together in a way that makes them legitimate in this league.

Next Game: Denver @ Arizona (+2.5)

17. Atlanta Falcons (2-4 SU, 2-4 ATS) The injury bug has hit the Falcons hard this season which has significantly contributed to their 2-4 record through Week 6. The schedule gets a bit more favorable over the next 4 weeks, but until the Falcons can get healthy, specifically on the defensive side of the ball, they will continue to see the losses pile up.

18. Chicago Bears (3-2 SU, 3-2 ATS) The Bears lead the North division, but are coming off a loss to a Miami team they should have beaten handily. The defense gave up over 500 yards of total offense,  384 passing yards and 3 touchdowns to Brock Osweiler. Brock Freaking Osweiler! Chicago is better than their performance in Miami, but it is still tough to determine exactly who the Bears are given their favorable schedule so far this season. It might not be - the Bears might be an awesome football team with a quarterback that has no idea what he's doing and got lucky once against Tampa.

19. New York Jets (3-3 SU, 3-3 ATS) The Jets move up this week after their back to back wins over Denver and Indianapolis. Sam Darnold and the offense seem as though they are starting to find their rhythm, but the Week 7 injury report has revealed the Jets are down to just three “healthy” wideouts. On top of the injuries, the Jets are facing a tall task in Week 7 as the Vikings head to New York. Without several key contributors, including top wide receiver Quincy Enunwa, the Jets will have to find a way to score against an elite defense.

Next Game: Minnesota @ New York Jets (+3)

20. Tennessee Titans (3-3 SU, 3-3 ATS) The Tennessee Titans have been on a roller coaster ride through the first 6 games of the 2018 season. After winning 3 games in a row over the Texans, Jaguars, and Eagles, the Titans have lost two in a row including a home field shutout at the hands of the Ravens. There's no reason for them to be this bad, unless Mike Vrabel was a total miss as a head coach.

Next Game: Tennessee @ Los Angeles Chargers (-6.5)

21. Miami Dolphins (4-2 SU, 4-2 ATS) This ranking is less about the Dolphins’ overall record and more about perception and injuries. For the second year in a row the Dolphins are reeling from key injuries on both sides of the ball. Although Brock Osweiler played exceptionally well in relief of the injured Ryan Tannehill against the Bears, he is not a long time solution for the Fins. If Miami can come away with a win over the Lions in Week 7, they face a favorable schedule over the second half of the season. Miami could grade out as a strong, sneaky bet because everyone always overlooks them.

Next Game: Detroit (-3) @ Miami

22. Dallas Cowboys (3-3 SU, 3-3 ATS) The Cowboys are in second place in the NFC East behind the Redskins, yet through 6 weeks, Dallas has shown very little that would lead anyone to believe they can take the division crown. Ezekiel Elliott has only found the end zone 3 times so far this season, and Dak Prescott has struggled to keep his QBR above 50. Dallas is facing a pivotal game in Week 7 as they head to D.C. If any team is ready to launch up the rankings, it's America's Team, but we'll wait and see before counting the chickens.

23. Seattle Seahawks (3-3 SU, 3-2-1 ATS) With the best team in the NFL in the same division, nobody has been talking about the Seahawks quietly winning 3 of their last 4 games with the lone loss coming as a 2-point defeat at home against the Rams. The Seahawks will head into their bye week with an optimistic outlook on the rest of the season. And by optimistic, we mean, "Hey! They ain't so bad!"

24. Cleveland Browns (2-3-1 SU, 4-2 ATS) Baker Mayfield shouldered the responsibility for the recent blowout loss to the Chargers in Week 6. Although Mayfield played the worst game of his young NFL career, he is not the only one to blame for Cleveland’s recent issues. At this point it is probably safe to say Hue Jackson is in over his head and should go back to being an offensive coordinator. Random personnel moves, promises to get players the ball then subsequently not giving them the ball, apparent disconnects with other members of the coaching staff, the list goes on and it doesn’t paint Jackson in a favorable light. Cleveland was never going to win the AFC North, but it is frustrating to know this team could easily be atop the division if they could close out close games. In the NFL winning close games is where good coaches prove their worth.

25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3 SU, 2-3 ATS) After the Buc’s Week 6 loss to the Falcons, the team parted ways with defensive coordinator Mike Smith and promoted linebacker coach Mark Duffner who promises to bring a mentality shift to a defense that has given up 102 points over the last 3 games. The Bucs face a must-win game against Cleveland in Week 7 if they hope to gain any ground on the Saints in the NFC South.

Next Game: Cleveland @ Tampa Bay (-3)

26. Houston Texans (3-3 SU, 1-5 ATS) The Texans have quietly won 3 games in a row with their most recent victory, coming in the form of a pick-6 with 1:23 left on the clock over the Bills. The defense has stepped up for the Texans in recent weeks which has allowed an offense that ranks 27th in FEI more chances to find the end zone.

Next Game: Houston @ Jacksonville (-4.5)

27. New York Giants (1-5 SU, 2-4 ATS) Saquon Barkley can only do so much and that is reflected in the 1-5 record for the Giants. Eli Manning is probably done as a starter in this league and OBJ has not proven he is worth the record contract he signed during the offseason. There are a ton of issues beyond the skill position players as well, specifically on the offensive line. The Giants should already be focusing on which quarterback they want to draft in the 2019 NFL Draft. The bad news for Giants fans...it's not a great quarterback draft class.

Next Game: New York Giants @ Falcons (-6)

28. Indianapolis Colts (1-5 SU, 2-4 ATS) The Colts defense is progressively getting worse as the season goes on, giving up 42 points in their most recent loss to the New York Jets. T.Y. Hilton appears to be healthy again which will give Andrew Luck his favorite target back when they face the Bills in Week 7. A win over Buffalo will put the Colts back on the right track, but the defense needs to improve dramatically if the Colts want to join the race in the wide open AFC South.

Next Game: Buffalo @ Indianapolis (-6.5)

29. Buffalo Bills (2-4 SU, 3-3 ATS) With the season essentially over for the Bills already, the team has apparently ended its love affair with Nathan Peterman. Josh Allen is out in Week 7 and the Bills will start Derek Anderson against the Colts instead of Peterman. The Bills are in for a long second half of the season.

Next Game: Buffalo @ Indianapolis (-6.5)

30. Oakland Raiders (1-5 SU, 2-4 ATS) Oakland heads into the bye after getting annihilated by the Seahawks in Week 6. Gruden insists the Raiders aren’t going to tank the rest of the season, but with little hope of resurrecting a 1-5 start as the Chiefs continue to win games makes the 2018 season appear to be a lost cause.

Next Game: BYE

31. Arizona Cardinals (1-5 SU, 2-4 ATS) Josh Rosen continued to show promise against the Vikings in Week 6. Although the Cardinals lost the game, there we re positives Arizona can use moving forward, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. The Cardinals have a long way to go to be considered anything other than a lost cause this season, but they have a chance take a step in the right direction against the Broncos on Thursday night.

Next Game: Denver @ Arizona (+2.5)

32. San Francisco 49ers (1-5 SU, 3-3 ATS) The newly crowned worst team in the NFL kept it close against the Packers in Lambeau on Monday night. In all reality CJ Beathard and the 49ers should probably have won the game after they held a 7 point lead until the last 1:55 of the final stanza. Three turnovers and more magic from Aaron Rodgers lifted the Packers and ultimately doomed San Francisco to another loss. San Francisco should remain a solid contender for the top pick in the 2019 draft.
