Week 3 NFL Betting Lines The Late Game Chasers
Fairway Jay provides his picks for the Week 3 NFL betting matchups on Sunday afternoon!
LA Chargers at LA Rams (-7) - Moving in to the lead as co-favorites for Super Bowl LIII, the Los Angeles Rams are the highest rated team in the NFL, both in terms of on-field production and betting. Rams are stronger on offense, defense and special teams, and clearly in coaching when it comes to this so-called Battle of Los Angles. A bigger home game for the Rams on deck against the Vikings Thursday following this contest, but look for the Rams to keep rolling as they're 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS as favorites of more than 3 points under coach Sean McVay. Chargers QB Philip Rivers provides capable passing but may not have as much protection while facing more pressure as a dog in Week 3 NFL betting. Backdoor potential, but rushing differential also points to the Rams, making them the percentage play to win by more than a touchdown as well.Week 3 NFL Betting Pick - LA Rams -7.0
Chicago Bears (-5.5) at Arizona Cardinals - Arizona coach Steve Wilks may be in over his head, which is the case for a Cardinals offense that has scored just one touchdown in two games. Making matters worse is the fact that the score came during garbage time in Week 1. Arizona has been outmuscled 58-6 so far this season. The Bears defense has shown well in two games and Khalil Mack is a monster on the attack. The Bears offense is struggling at just 4.5 yards per play, and QB Mitch Trubisky needs to show he’s better this week against a Cardinals secondary and pass defense that has allowed 8.8 yards per pass play to rank near the bottom of the league. Two weeks of very poor play by the Cardinals has shifted the line and perception, but an adjustment downward on Arizona is warranted. Quarterback Sam Bradford has had little protection or support, and that includes his clueless QB coach Byron Leftwich. Still, Bradford needs to perform better or rookie QB Josh Rosen will be taking snaps soon. Before lining up for the Bears on a short week following Monday night’s win, and taking the poor percentage play of laying a TD on the road, consider contrary thinking. Home underdogs of 3+ points off a shutout loss are 43-10 ATS the past 25 years vs. non-conference opponents not off a bye. Arizona’s struggles have also adjusted the total down to 38, which is another market adjustment and over-reaction. Cardinals or pass.
Week 3 NFL Betting Pick - Arizona +5.5
Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks (-1) - Seattle has won nine straight home openers and return to CenturyLink following a pair of road losses to start the season. The Seahawks are also 6-0 SU and ATS at home off consecutive losses under coach Pete Carroll. But trends don’t pay the rent, and this is not the dominant defense we’re accustomed to seeing in Seattle. The Seahawks offensive line and running game is lacking as well and tackle Germain Ifedi is really struggling with three sacks surrendered. Quarterback Russell Wilson, who is without injured WR Doug Baldwin (knee), has also been turnover prone as he's put in the unfortunate predicament of forcing plays that aren't going anywhere. The Seahawks have gotten little pressure on opposing QB’s thus far, but the return of star LB Bobby Wagner (groin) this week and potentially LB K.J. Wright (knee, missed Thurs practice) improves the defense. A bigger loss for Dallas if LB Sean Lee is unable to make post, but Lee says he’ll play with a lingering hamstring issue. Unfortunately, All-Pro center Travis Frederick has been out and still not practicing this week (illness). Little support for either side but hard to see much offensive production or scoring again with a total of 42.
Week 3 NFL Betting Pick - UNDER 42.0
