Week 11 Thursday Night Football Betting - Green Bay at Seattle
NFL WEEK 11 THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL BETTING Green Bay Packers at Seattle Seahawks Thursday, November 15th – CenturyLink Field – 8:20pm ET Odds: Seahawks (-2.5) 49
When Green Bay battles Seattle in NFL Week 11 Thursday Night Football betting, more will be at stake than just bragging rights. Both teams continue to teeter on the playoff ledge. Neither has done enough to win their division, and unless something crazy happens neither will win their division. A Wild Card berth is still within reach for either side.
Both teams have also let big chances to improve their wildcard position slip through their fingers in recent weeks. Green Bay couldn’t close the deal on either the Rams or Patriots in weeks 8 and 9 while the Seahawks blew a huge chance to upset the Rams in Week 10.
The home team’s actually got more at stake than the visitors on Nov. 15. Seattle fell to 4-5 after they couldn’t pull off the upset over L.A. while Green Bay moved to 4-4-4 after dominating overmatched Miami in Week 10.
A loss by either team in this game makes things much more difficult down the road. There just isn't a lot of room for error as we enter the home stretch as the NFC Wild Card situation is as muddled as it could possibly be.
Check out a deeper look at one of the most important games of the season so far, Green Bay at Seattle on NFL Week 11 Thursday Night Football betting!
Green Bay Searches for First Road Win
One of the reasons Green Bay’s had trouble getting above .500 is because they haven’t yet won a road game. The Packers are 0-4 SU on the road this season. To be fair, the Packers were only favored in 1 of those 4 road games. As -2.5 point favorites against Washington in Week 3, they were blown out 17-31.But, Green Bay’s likely to kickoff in Seattle a road dog, and they can’t afford to lose on Nov. 15. What’s frustrating if you’re a Packers fan is that Green Bay has played well on the road. They had a real shot to beat the Rams in Week 8, but a fumble by Ty Montgomery led to the Rams closing the door on Green Bay.
On the very next Sunday, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers hung with Tom Brady and the Patriots for 3 quarters. Then, Brady and the Pats pulled away by outscoring Green Bay 14-0 in the 4th.
If the Packers can put together a full 4 quarters of football, they might beat Seattle for their first road win of the season. Better late than never, I suppose.
Seattle Hops to Keep Ball out of Aaron Rodgers’ Hands
The Seahawks rank 7th in the NFL in yards allowed via the pass, but they know that stopping quarterbacks like Derek Carr and Josh Rosen’s much easier than stopping someone like Aaron Rodgers. If Seattle loses on Thursday night, it will be because Rodgers wills the Packers to victory. The Seahawks must keep the ball out of his hands. The best way to do that is for Seattle to lean on what’s become the top rushing attack in the NFL. The Seahawks average 152.2 yards per. What’s amazing is that their top running back, Chris Carson, has only rushed for 497 yards this season.
The Emerald City team has taken the running back by committee approach to a whole new level. After Carson, Mike Davis has rushed for 346 yards. Rashaad Penny has rushed for 254 yards.
The Seahawks run a system rushing attack that’s dependent more on the offensive line than individual running back talents. If Seattle gets their rushing attack going, they could disrupt the flow that Rodgers gets into when he’s on his game.
Week 11 Thursday Night Football Betting Analysis
The line quickly moved to Seattle -2.5 after opening at -3. At Seahawks -2.5, only slightly more handicappers favor the Packers. By kickoff, the line could go back to 3 once pro handicappers study the stats and trends. Not winning a game yet on the road this season’s a real concern. The Packers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games. They’re also 0-4 ATS in their last 4 after an ATS victory while Seattle is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 Thursday games.
Trends aside, the Seahawks have a major advantage in this matchup. They’re the top rushing team in the NFL facing the 22nd ranked squad against the run. Seattle should have no trouble controlling the clock and slashing Green Bay with Penny and Davis. If Carson plays, he’s listed as questionable, he’ll also get into the act.
Seattle wins this by 6 to 10 points.
