TwinSpires offers 1st TD Insurance for NFL Conference Championships
TwinSpires Sports is providing NFL bettors with an incredible promotion all postseason long.
Our First Touchdown Scorer Insurance promo lets you place a wager up to $50 on any player to score the opening touchdown of the game. If that player does not score the first touchdown, but does find the end zone at some point, you get your wager back as a free bet!
Let’s look at both NFL Conference Championship games scheduled for this Sunday and select the most likely touchdown scorer for each so you can take full advantage of this promotion.
AFC Championship Game
The AFC Conference Championship between the Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs is expected to be a high-scoring affair, which should provide you with plenty of opportunities to find a player that is likely to find the end zone. When these two teams met in Week 17, the score was 34-31 and five different players scored a touchdown.

In the first meeting, Demarcus Robinson scored the first touchdown of the game. In this meeting, his odds are an incredible +3300. However, even with the insurance promotion, this is a big risk. Robinson only scored two other times all season and had one target with no catches last week against the Buffalo Bills.
The opponent scored the first touchdown in each of the Chiefs two playoff games, while the Bengals scored first in one of their two playoff games. However, it was a different story in the regular season. The Bengals scored the first touchdown in only six of their 17 games, while the Chiefs scored the first touchdown in 13 of their 17 games.
Based on the trends, we should assume that the Chiefs are going to score the first touchdown. Since we already ruled out Robinson, let’s look at the four players that scored the first touchdown in multiple games this year for Kansas City. The defense, which would be considered "Any other KC Chiefs player" (+2200) surprisingly scored the first touchdown twice this season. As did Clyde Edwards-Helaire (+1200) and Tyreek Hill (+650). Travis Kelce (+700) scored the first touchdown three times this season. Kelce is the safest bet here as he has scored first the most times and has scored in 10 of his 18 games this season. Even if Kelce does not score first, you are likely to get the insurance with him scoring at any point in the game.
AFC Championship pick: Travis Kelce (+700)
NFC Championship Game
This will be the third meeting of the season for the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams, both of whom play in the NFC West. In the first two meetings, they split on which team scored the first touchdown. However, it was a tight end for each team that scored first. George Kittle had the first touchdown in the first matchup, and Tyler Higbee had the first touchdown in the second matchup.

In the playoffs, the 49ers have scored first once and allowed the opponent to score first once, while the Rams have scored first in both games. In the regular season, both teams scored the first touchdown in nine of their 17 games.
The Rams have gotten off to a hot start in each of their past three games. This gives them the edge in deciding which team will score the first touchdown. While Cooper Kupp (+525) is the safest bet to score at any time in the game and guarantee your insurance, there is better value to try and attack here.
Tyler Higbee (+1150) already scored the first touchdown in one of the two previous meetings between these two teams. He also scored the first touchdown in another regular season game this year, which ties Sony Michel (+1700) for the most on the Rams this year.
Higbee has scored a touchdown in only four games this year, but he scored three touchdowns in the two combined games against the 49ers this season. He not only provides excellent value for the first touchdown scorer, but he's also an excellent bet to score at some point in the game.
NFC Championship pick: Tyler Higbee (+1150)
