Top 5 Super Bowl LV contenders
The Kansas City Chiefs rode a 21-point fourth quarter to come back and beat the San Francisco 49ers, 31-20, in a memorable Super Bowl LIV. Bookmakers have already revealed the odds to win next year’s Super Bowl, to be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay. Here are the top five betting choices.
Odds to win Super Bowl LV
Team | Super Bowl LV Odds |
---|
Kansas City Chiefs | +600 |
Baltimore Ravens | +750 |
San Francisco 49ers | +900 |
New Orleans Saints | +1200 |
New England Patriots | +1400 |
Kansas City Chiefs (+600)
The defending champs are usually favored to repeat at this early juncture, and this year is no exception. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes isn’t going anywhere and neither are wideouts Tyreek Hill, Demarcus Robinson, and Mecole Hardman. There isn’t a lot of departing talent on either side of the football, except for defensive lineman Chris Jones.
Jones, who was disruptive against the 49ers offense in Super Bowl LIV, could potentially command a five-year, $100 million contract. The Chiefs could franchise tag Jones if negotiations hit a snag.
Baltimore Ravens (+750)
A Divisional Round exit was not what the Ravens—who won an NFL-high (and franchise record) 14 games this season—had in mind, but they’ll have to lick their wounds and try for redemption in Super Bowl LV. NFL MVP Lamar Jackson will still be in command of their run-happy offense, but Baltimore has several pressing questions regarding their defensive front seven.

Linemen Michael Pierce and Jihad Ward, along with linebackers Matthew Judon, Pernell McPhee, Josh Bynes and Patrick Onwuasor, could all walk away this offseason. Cornerback Jimmy Smith, perhaps expendable following the extension of Marcus Peters, may also join them. This unit allowed the third-fewest points in the league in 2019, so it’s important that Baltimore does whatever it can to keep it together.
San Francisco 49ers (+900)
The Niners built a young, affordable defensive line that went a long way toward their Super Bowl push, but the lure of a big payday could mean Arik Armstead (10 sacks) will depart. The salary-cap situation is tight, and San Francisco has only one pick in the first four rounds of this year’s draft, so it would not be surprising to see this team regress next season. Their upcoming offseason bears close examination.
New Orleans Saints (+1200)
If the Niners fall back to the pack in 2020, the Saints could be the club that takes the torch. But they’ll only go as far as quarterback Drew Brees—now 41 years old and a free agent—takes them. He’s mulling retirement, so bettors would be wise to wait and see what he decides.

New England Patriots (+1400)
The Patriots face a similar conundrum as the Saints. New England will sink or swim depending on the decision of free agent quarterback Tom Brady. Even if Brady returns for a 21st season in Foxboro, free safety Devin McCourty and linebacker Kyle Van Noy potentially leaving would create giant holes in what was the league’s best defense this season.
