The ultimate Tampa Bay Buccaneers quiz
Few franchises have experienced more breathtaking highs or more dizzying lows than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Established in 1976, the expansion Bucs lost 26 consecutive games before finally claiming their inaugural victory in Week 13 of their second season.
Although that first win was sweet, it wasn’t exactly a sign of things to come. The league's only Creamsicle-colored team missed the playoffs in 18 of its first 21 seasons and finished at the bottom of its division 11 times during that span. For the better part of two decades, the only real certainties in life were death, taxes, and Tampa Bay missing the postseason.
The Buccaneers’ fortunes finally began to turn in 1996 with the hiring of head coach Tony Dungy. The affable Hall of Famer transformed the Bucs from a league-wide laughingstock into one of the NFL’s most fearsome teams. Tampa Bay made the playoffs in four of the next five years and finally broke through in 2003 with a convincing 48-21 win over the Oakland Raiders at Super Bowl XXXVII.
Now, after years of mediocrity, the Buccaneers are back on football’s biggest stage and are just four quarters away from claiming their second Super Bowl championship.
