Patriots vs. Jets: The best betting props for MNF
Week 9 of the NFL season finishes up with a matchup of two teams struggling to stay afloat in the AFC East.
The New England Patriots find themselves in unfamiliar territory on a four-game losing streak. Meanwhile, the New York Jets are 0-8 and the worst team in the NFL by a mile. Something has to give here.
Here are the best betting props for the Week 9 Monday Night Football showdown between the Patriots and Jets.
Cam Newton passing yards
Cam Newton is only averaging 190.5 yards per game through the air in his six games. Meanwhile, the Jets have the 29th ranked pass defense in the league, and are giving up an average of 282.75 passing yards.
This number currently sits at 213.5 passing yards to try to meet a median between the two averages. However, the Jets have actually held multiple quarterbacks below this number. Jimmy Garoppolo and Ryan Fitzpatrick failed to hit this number, and Phillip Rivers only surpassed it by 3.5 yards.
Cam Newton only has one game this season over 174 passing yards. That was Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks where he managed 397 passing yards on 44 attempts. He only averaged 22 attempts in his other five games.

I expect the Patriots' game plan to be run heavy including using Newton on the run. The Under here feels like a safe bet.
Pick: Under 213.5 passing yards (-115)
Cam Newton rushing yards
I like this betting prop because I believe this will be a big part of the New England game plan. Newton has a career high in rushing yards per game thus far in 2020 at 49.7. He is also on pace for a career high 148 rushing attempts on the season. Clearly, Josh McDaniels wants Newton running with the ball.

The number sits at 45.5 rushing yards, which is quite high for a quarterback. However, the Jets have also allowed this number to be hit by Josh Allen twice this year. I love the Over here.
Pick: Over 45.5 rushing yards (-115)
To score two or more touchdowns
This is clearly a value pick here as we are looking for a player to reach the end zone twice in a game where the total is only sitting at 41 points. There are only four players between the two teams that have at least two touchdowns on the entire season. They are Cam Newton, Rex Burkhead, Braxton Berrios, and Jamison Crowder.
A player has scored two touchdowns or more in five of the seven games the Patriots have played this year. The Jets have also allowed a player to score twice in three of their eight games this season. The obvious choices for the Patriots here are Cam Newton, Damien, Harris, and Rex Burkhead. Because of the run-heavy nature of the Patriots' game plan and the lack of talent on the Jets sideline, Damien Harris is a solid play.
Pick: Damien Harris (+650)
