NFL Week 2 Roundtable: The Daniel Jones era is here
The New York Giants are officially passing the torch from Eli Manning to Daniel Jones in Week 3. What are your expectations for the rookie quarterback against Tampa Bay?
Ashley: The Bucs are the perfect team for Daniel Jones to get his feet wet as a starter. Tampa Bay gave up 333 passing yards against Carolina and Cam Newton, who has struggled early in the season and only completed half of his passes in the game. Jones will be more accurate. The real question is whether his receivers will be healthy in Week 3, but no matter what, his performance will be a step up from Manning.James: Expectations are low for Daniel Jones. With an offensive line that can’t protect the quarterback, and a wide receiver corps clearly among the worst in league while Golden Tate serves a four-game suspension, the Giants probably won’t ask Jones to do much. Expect a heavy dose of Saquon Barkley and short passes.
HC Pat Shurmur informed Eli Manning this morning of his decision to go with Daniel Jones."Eli was obviously disappointed, as you would expect, but he said he would be what he has always been, a good teammate, and continue to prepare to help this team win games,” Shurmur said.

Washington running back Adrian Peterson moved into fifth place on the NFL's all-time rushing touchdown list Sunday against Dallas. Where does he land on your list of the greatest running backs?
Ashley: I won’t put him in my top five but he’s definitely top 10. Emmitt Smith is No. 1—no question—and LaDainian Tomlinson, Marcus Allen and Walter Payton still belong ahead of him. I also put Marshall Faulk and Barry Sanders in front of Peterson. Maybe Jim Brown, too. Let’s put AP No. 8 all-time.James: A future hall of famer, Adrian Peterson rates as a top 10 running back of the modern era, but isn’t in my upper echelon. I place Walter Payton, Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith on a pedestal, and Adrian Peterson never put a team on his back and carried them in the postseason like underappreciated John Riggins.
While the #Redskins lost, it’s a cool day for @AdrianPeterson who passes NFL legend Jim Brown on all-time rush TD list

“This one means a lot more than the other ones will when I pass them cuz Jim Brown’s a guy I looked up to.”https://t.co/2ZQPlF1In3 pic.twitter.com/9uulavGekn
Scott: Adrian Peterson is one of the best pure rushers I have ever seen, but he falls just short of being one of the best running backs ever, because of his lack of involvement in the passing game. I can forgive a guy like Jim Brown for not catching a lot of passes, because the game was much different back then, but in the 21st century, the best of the best should be a factor on all three downs and regardless of the flow of the game.
The Dolphins have now been outscored by 92 points over their first two games. Are we witnessing the worst team in modern NFL history?
Ashley: If they somehow continue to lose by an average margin of 46 points, then absolutely yes. I hope for the fans’ and players’ sake they bring the margin down to 10 to 15 as the season goes on. The schedule doesn’t offer much of a chance for reprieve, minus a Week 9 home game against the Jets (assuming New York is still facing health issues). The 2019 Dolphins are making the 2008 Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns look mediocre by comparison.James: Not yet. Miami may wind up worse than Cleveland (winless in 2017) and Detroit (winless in 2008), but the daunting early season schedule was a recipe for disaster, and the Dolphins are still very young. Do not be shocked to see them come together and steal a home game against a bad team like Cincinnati or the Jets later this season.
Stop complaining about your life. There are literally people who are Miami Dolphins fans.

Scott: There have been a lot of really bad teams in the past, but this is probably going to end up being the worst team in modern NFL history. The fact that the organization is outright tanking creates a certain attitude. Add to the mix a roster that is lacking in talent, and the team likely will win one game or none. They are once again a massive underdog in Week 3 against Dallas.
