NFL Sunday Night Football preview: Colts vs. Chiefs
Team | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|
Indianapolis Colts | +10.5 (-110) | +415 | Over 56 (-110) |
Kansas City Chiefs | -10.5 (-110) | -585 | Under 56 (-110) |
The Colts blew a chance to pad their record against the Raiders last week, when they lost 31-24 as 7-point home favorites. They’ll face a much tougher assignment Sunday night, on the road against the undefeated Chiefs.
Indy’s injury report features some key players, including running back Marlon Mack, who hurt his ankle midway through Sunday’s loss and didn’t return. He was held out of Wednesday’s practice along with wide out Parris Campbell (abdomen), who joins Jacoby Brissett’s top target, T.Y. Hilton (quad), on the sideline. Brissett is having a decent year (he has completing 65.2% of his passes for 6.6 yards per attempt, with a 5-1 touchdown-interception ratio), but he probably won’t be able to lead his offense efficiently with all that talent limited or out entirely. The much-maligned Kansas City defense has played well at home since the start of last season, allowing only 311.7 yards per contest (nine games). Only five defenses have allowed fewer yards per game this year.

And the Marlon Mack situation is still murky. Just said he doesn’t know what his status will be. Hasn’t practiced, though he worked on the side with a rehab specialist today.

The Colts’ injuries have not been restricted to one side of the ball, as safety Malik Hooker (knee) is expected to miss his second straight game, while Clayton Geathers is in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Linebacker Darius Leonard (concussion), limited in practice Wednesday, will try to avoid his second missed game in a row.
Patrick Mahomes, who has completed 67.9% of his passes for 9.7 yards per attempt and hasn't thrown an interception this season, should have no problem picking apart Indy’s secondary through the air. The Colts have registered nine sacks through four games (19th in the NFL) and the Chiefs’ offensive line has allowed Mahomes to go down just three times, so the 2018 NFL MVP should feel little pressure in the pocket.

The Chiefs have been good to their backers of late. The have covered in five of their last seven games, and there doesn’t appear to be any reason to abandon them Sunday night.
Pick: Chiefs -10.5
