NFL Notebook: Superman returns to Carolina

A pretty surprising result kickstarted this week’s National Football League action on Thursday night. If that upset is any indication, this could be a chaotic weekend on the gridiron, and, appropriately enough, it kicks off this week’s NFL Notebook.
Miami Shocks Baltimore
Less than a week ago, the Miami Dolphins were 1-7, and a fan could be excused for writing off the season as a lost cause. However, the Dolphins have now won two in a row following a 22-10 stunner over the Baltimore Ravens. Both Tua Tagovailoa and Jacoby Brissett saw action in the win, while Lamar Jackson struggled for most of the evening as the Ravens fell to 6-3.

OBJ Heads To LA
Wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. will suit up for the Rams after being released by the Browns earlier this week.

He joins a stacked offense that also includes quarterback Matthew Stafford and playmakers Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, among others. OBJ has had a season to forget to this point, with just 17 receptions, but if Sean McVay and company find a way to help him turn back the clock, the possibilities are limitless for the LA offense.
Superman Returns... Sort Of
In a "full circle" moment, Cam Newton has returned to the Carolina Panthers. With starter Sam Darnold likely to miss time due to an injury, the organization brought a familiar face back into the fold. The 2015 MVP, of course, led the Panthers to a Super Bowl several years ago, but left for New England following the 2019 season. Backup PJ Walker, however, is expected to start Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

Wilson Set to Come Back
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is set to lead his squad into Sunday’s tilt against the Green Bay Packers after missing several weeks due to a finger injury. Initially, he was expected to miss up to eight weeks, but the veteran beat expectations, and the Seahawks could certainly use him. Seattle is 3-5 going into this weekend’s contest, one that may also feature the return of Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers, if he’s cleared to play following his highly-publicized bout with COVID-19.
