Lions vs. Packers: The best player prop bets for MNF
Both the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers will attempt to wipe the sour taste out of their mouths in Week 2 after suffering bad losses in Week 1. The Lions allowed 41 points to the San Francisco 49ers in an eight-point home defeat that wasn’t nearly as close as the score indicated, while the Packers were annihilated by the New Orleans Saints in neutral Jacksonville, 38-3.
Here are our three favorite player props for this Monday night matchup.
Detroit Lions (0-1) at Green Bay Packers (0-1), 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN
Touchdown scorer: Robert Tonyan
After being held out of the end zone in Week 1, it would be downright shocking if the same thing happened to the Packers at Lambeau Field in Week 2. Aaron Rodgers’ favorite target – Davante Adams – is a very low -200 to score a touchdown at any time in this game, but there’s another option available at a much larger price.

Green Bay tight end Robert Tonyan hauled in 11 touchdown passes in 2020, including six spread over the final seven games of the regular season. The Lions allowed nine touchdowns to opposing tight ends in 2020, tied for the seventh-worst mark in the league.
NFL pick: Robert Tonyan anytime TD (+175)
Aaron Jones Over/Under 87.5 rushing and receiving yards
After being limited to seven touches and 22 yards in Week 1, Aaron Jones seems due for a breakout game against the Lions.

Jones averaged 104.2 all-purpose yards per game in the 2020 regular season (14 games). Factor out the two losses he suited up for, and that number jumps to 112.3. The Lions’ defense allowed 164.1 all-purpose yards per game to running backs last year, so Jones backers would seem to have plenty of leeway in this prop market.
NFL pick: Over (-114)
Jared Goff Over/Under 34.5 pass attempts
Playing from behind for most of his Detroit debut, former Los Angeles Rams No. 1 pick Jared Goff chucked the ball 57 times in a Week 1 defeat. While he probably won’t reach that number again here, it’s a pretty decent bet that he’ll get to at least 35 pass attempts on Monday night.

The Lions don’t appear to have the talent at wide receiver to stretch the field, but Goff threw an astounding 20 passes to running backs D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams in Week 1. Each proved to be a reliable target for Goff, bringing in eight throws apiece.
Expect Detroit to stick with this strategy through the air, as the Packers’ defense allowed the third-most passing yards to running backs in 2020.
NFL pick: Over (-114)
