Joe Burrow favored to be 1st overall pick in 2020 NFL Draft
Now that the college football season is over, we can turn our attention to 2020 NFL Draft. To no one's surprise Joe Burrow is a giant favorite to be the first name called April 23 in Las Vegas. The LSU quarterback just put up some of the greatest numbers in a college football season and led his team to a national championship. Is it worth a wager to bet against these massive odds?
Odds to be chosen first in the 2020 NFL Draft
Player | 2020 NFL Draft Odds |

Joe Burrow | -3000 |
Chase Young | +1300 |
Tua Tagovailoa | +2000 |
Andrew Thomas | +3000 |
Justin Herbert | +3000 |
Chase Young
The stellar defensive end out of Ohio State would be an easy choice for No. 1 overall in just about any other year. Pass rushers are the second most valuable position in football (behind quarterbacks), and you do not get much better prospects than this young man. The Bengals' defense finished 26th in sacks last season, so this would be a major need.Chase Young had 10 pressures and 4 QB hits in the Fiesta Bowl against Clemson #NFLDraft pic.twitter.com/E882r8f3Y1

Tua Tagovailoa
Tagovailoa was a consensus preseason pick to be the top quarterback available in the draft, but he went down with a serious injury against Mississippi State. However, now it looks like he could be throwing for teams as early as April. The Bengals' questionable draft choices at quarterback are well documented (see: Akili Smith over Daunte Culpepper in 1999).From our Championship Wednesday coverage on @NFLNetwork: #Bama QB Tua Tagovailoa may throw for NFL teams during a Pro Day in mid-April, thanks to some very positive health news. pic.twitter.com/ooVJCyf0ij

Andrew Thomas
Offensive line is a major need for Cincinnati. The Bengals allowed the ninth most sacks in the league and had the eighth lowest rushing yards per attempt last season. Georgia's Thomas would fill a major hole and could provide much-needed protection for their future quarterback, should they wait to take a later option.Did I mention Andrew Thomas was good? pic.twitter.com/kWOHfdxjwD

The Case for Burrow
It is clearly time for Cincinnati to move on from Andy Dalton and look toward the future. The Bengals can get that started by taking Burrow with the No. 1 pick. The Heisman Trophy winner put up historical numbers this season, with 5,671 passing yards and 60 touchdowns. He set the record for most passing touchdowns and most total touchdowns in a college football season. But you can also just use your eyes to see greatness on the field. The passes Burrow made in the College Football Playoff National Championship game were phenomenal. Not to mention his remarkable ability to avoid pass rushers. In the SEC Championship Game against Georgia, he managed to escape multiple sack attempts and complete a 70-yard pass to Justin Jefferson.
Poise and winning mentality are things you cannot teach, and Burrow has these qualities in abundance. When he faced the three defenses with arguably the most NFL-ready talent (Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson), he had a combined 1,205 passing yards, 163 rushing yards, 13 total touchdowns and no turnovers. The man shows up with his best when it matters most.

Burrow will become a Bengal
I expect the Bengals to select Burrow with the No. 1 selection in the 2020 NFL Draft. At -3000, it is tough to wager on this unless you put down some massive dollars, but it seems like a mortal lock.Opt in now to receive a risk-free bet up to $1,000 from BetAmerica!
