Chargers vs. Seahawks: NFL preseason odds, preview, and pick
The Seattle Seahawks (0-2) will try to earn their first win of the NFL preseason when they host the Los Angeles Chargers (1-1) on Saturday, Aug. 28 at Lumen Field.
Let’s take a look at the latest betting odds and top storylines for this interconference clash.
Don't expect heavy minutes from Herbert & Co.
The Chargers have a number of young players on the roster that will continue to benefit from real game experience including, but certainly not limited to, quarterback Justin Herbert, safety Derwin James, and offensive lineman Rashawn Slater. That said, the Chargers have clear intentions to preserve the health of all of their young playmakers and it sounds as though they will remain on the bench.

The Chargers have several players dealing with lingering injuries, and will likely stick with backups in this matchup. This decision is clearly why the Seahawks have moved from 1-point favorites to 5.5-point favorites over the past week.
Smith and Mannion are still battling to back-up Wilson
The Seahawks have a backup battle taking place between quarterbacks Geno Smith and Sean Mannion. Smith has more experience and is listed second on the depth chart, but after a preseason concussion and an unimpressive career thus far, the younger Mannion may get an opportunity to earn a roster spot.
Mannion was 13-for-23 for 118 yards in Week 2 of the preseason, and both he and Smith should split snaps in this matchup.

Seattle will triumph in a low-scoring affair
The Chargers have been on a hot streak against the spread, while the Seahawks have struggled in the preseason thus far, but the Chargers have a lot of offensive talent that will be sitting this one out. There is no reason to risk harm to Herbert or any starting offensive lineman, and that leaves perennial backup Chase Daniel without a lot of help.
The Seahawks will find a bit of extra motivation playing at home, and will pull away and cover the spread in a low-scoring affair.
Score Prediction: Seahawks 17, Chargers 7
NFL preseason pick: Seahawks -5.5
