3 Super Bowl LV longshots worth betting
Who’s ready for more football? While the Super Bowl is a celebrated event in American sports, it also signifies the conclusion of meaningful football for many months. Rather than wallow in despair, however, let’s take an early look at three longshots that could pay off large prices if they were to win next year’s big game. Super Bowl LV may be 364 days away, but betting lines are up now!
Odds to win Super Bowl LV
Team | Super Bowl LV Odds |
---|
Kansas City Chiefs | +700 |
Baltimore Ravens | +750 |
San Francisco 49ers | +900 |
New Orleans Saints | +1200 |
New England Patriots | +1400 |
Dallas Cowboys (+2000)
While Dak Prescott’s contract situation has been the talk of the town for many months, the Cowboys would be foolish to not bring their franchise quarterback under contract for a long-term deal. His primary weapons, Amari Cooper and Ezekiel Elliot, both should return, and the offensive line will remain strong.

The Cowboys offense was one of the best in the NFL in 2019, but they struggled mightily through a mid-season losing stretch that derailed their postseason hopes. The Cowboys were second in the NFL in points per game at home this year, and if improvement can be made on the road, a top-four seed is likely as NFC East champion.
Tennessee Titans (+2500)
It’s hard to believe a team that was in the AFC Championship Game in 2019 is such a longshot to win next year’s Super Bowl, but this number speaks more to the difficulty the Titans will face within their own division next year. Ryan Tannehill was the most efficient quarterback in 2019, and I expect him to have continued success moving forward with his young receivers on the roster who should only improve.

The Texans and Colts will be difficult opponents to beat out to win the AFC South, and there will be some red-zone efficiency regression in 2020, but this is a team that understands its identity and needs a couple key additions to get it over the hump.
Miami Dolphins (+15000)
This one seems absurd, but hear me out. Tom Brady might be leaving New England, and he might end his career in warmer weather. If Brady goes south to Miami, the powerhouse Patriots will struggle to find their new identity in the AFC East, while the Dolphins will have a proven leader and winner.
Even if Brady doesn’t go to Miami, Brady’s absence would open the door for a new team from the AFC East to emerge. While the obvious candidate is the Bills, the Dolphins showed a lot of heart to end their season, with five wins in nine games.
The Dolphins also have more than $93 million in open cap space, so they have the room to make major moves. They also have six picks from the first 75 of this year’s NFL Draft, and while those picks might take time to develop, we’re seeing rookies contribute more and more in the modern NFL.
