The ultimate NBA Finals MVP quiz
The NBA has been honoring the most valuable player of its championship series since 1969, when Lakers legend Jerry West won the inaugural NBA Finals MVP award after averaging 37.9 points, 7.4 assists, and 4.7 rebounds against the Celtics. It marked the first – and so far only – time a player on a losing team has won the coveted accolade.
30 other players have since taken home the NBA Finals MVP award, with many nabbing it on multiple occasions. Michael Jordan leads all recipients with six NBA Finals MVP trophies, but Magic Johnson, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O’Neal, and LeBron James aren’t far behind with three each. King James could move up that list this October if his Lakers continue their dominant play in the bubble.
