NBA Trends: The Wizards have cast a fire spell
We've entered the home stretch of the NBA season, and now have a strong set of data to dive into.
Let's break down the latest metrics from around the league, and determine which trends you should take advantage of as the playoffs near.
Mini Series Trends
All season long, we've been following NBA mini series and tracking the best bets to make. In all mini series combined, the Under is an impressive 28-13-1 in the second game of the mini series.
In the 38 mini series that have been played in the Western Conference, the Under is 39-36-1. The team that lost the first game is 23-14-1 ATS in the second game.
In the 33 mini series that have been played in the Eastern Conference, the team that covered the first game is 17-16 ATS in the second game. The underdog is 38-28 ATS in all games.
The week(s) of Unders
Last week, we discussed how impressive the Unders were in the past seven days. Well, another week has passed, and the Unders keep on rolling. In the past seven days, the Under is 30-21 in all non-overtime games. That makes for 59-40 in all non-OT games in the past two weeks, and 457-418 on the season.
Unders in Charlotte Hornets home games went 2-1 this past week, putting it at 20-8-1 on the season. Unders are an amazing 7-1 when the Dallas Mavericks are home underdogs. The Under is 11-3 in games where the Cleveland Cavaliers are playing on the second game of a back-to-back.
Wizards are making bettors filthy rich
The Washington Wizards are red-hot, and not just in the win/loss column. They are also pumping up their against the spread record. The Wizards are 11-3 ATS in their past 14 games. This includes an eight-game winning streak against the spread from April 12-25.
It is not common, but when Washington are road favorites, they are 4-1 ATS. They are 17-10 ATS when they are coming off a win, which seems to be happening a lot recently. The Wizards are 13-7 ATS when they have the rest disadvantage over their opponents, but are also 3-1 ATS on those rare occasions where they get 2-3 days off between games.

The tank is real in Oklahoma City
The Oklahoma City Thunder were once 19-24 straight-up and 23-20 against the spread. Since March 24, the Thunder have gone into tank mode and are 2-17 overall and 5-14 ATS. Oklahoma City has not been favored in a game since Feb. 21 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Thunder have actually only been the favorite in two games all season! They are 1-0-1 ATS in those two games. However, they are terrible in home games. The Thunder are 9-20-1 ATS when they are the home team, and 4-8 ATS when they have the rest advantage over their opponent. They are also 2-6 ATS when they have 2-3 days off between games.
