NBA Trends: The Pelicans are hitting Overs at an historic rate
We've entered the home stretch of the NBA season, and now have a strong set of data to dive into.
Let's break down the latest metrics from around the league, and determine which trends you should take advantage of as the playoffs near.
Mini Series Trends
All season long, we've been following NBA mini series and tracking the best bets to make. In all mini series combined, the Under is an impressive 24-11-1 in the second game of the mini series. There was only one mini series game in the past two weeks, but there are two in the upcoming week.
In the 34 mini series that have been played in the Western Conference, the Under is 35-30-1. The team that lost the first game is 22-12 ATS and 12-4 ATS in the second game in the last two months.
In the 31 mini series that have been played in the Eastern Conference, the team that covered the first game is 16-15 ATS in the second game.
On the road again
It was a nice week for the road teams. They went a combined 32-20-1 against the spread in the last week. It was especially good for road favorites, as they went 13-7 ATS in the past week. They are 59-39-1 ATS in the past 30 days.
The best two road teams under any circumstance are the Chicago Bulls at 18-9 ATS, and the San Antonio Spurs at 16-8 ATS. The best team as a road favorite is the Charlotte Hornets at 6-1 ATS. The best road underdog to follow is the Phoenix Suns at 5-1 ATS.

Plenty of scoring in New Orleans
The New Orleans Pelicans have been on a historic pace all season for hitting Overs, and that has not changed in recent results. The Pelicans have hit the Over in 36 of their 54 games this year. That is a stellar 65.5% mark that only one team has eclipsed since the 2002-03 season.
The Over is especially abundant in certain situations for the Pelicans. When they are a road favorite, the Over is 9-2. When they are a home underdog, the Over is 9-3. The only situation with a large sample size below the 50% mark for Overs is when the Pelicans are road underdogs. The Over is 7-9 in those games.

The Lakers are drying up
The Under is hitting at a strong rate in Los Angeles Lakers game. It is 35-20 in all Lakers games this season. The Under actually went on a 17-5 record stretch in Lakers games from Feb. 16 to April 4. The Under is especially a good wager when the Lakers are a road favorite. It is 14-4 in those situations.
The Lakers also have some ATS woes this season. They are 23-23 ATS in all games thus far, but are 11-18 ATS when they have equal rest as their opponent. They are also 0-3 ATS as a home underdog on those rare occasions.
