Kings vs. Jazz: The best player prop bets for Nov. 2
We have a fun matchup tonight between the West-leading Utah Jazz and the suddenly frisky Sacramento Kings. Rudy Gobert has been dominant for the 5-1 Jazz, and he’ll hope his star partner Donovan Mitchell can get on track tonight after a slow start.
Kings vs. Jazz tips off at 9:00 p.m. ET on League Pass. We have odds and picks for our favorite player props below.
RUDY GOBERT OVER/UNDER 28.5 POINTS, REBOUNDS, AND ASSISTS
If you haven’t watched the Jazz much this year, you might have been surprised to see Gobert take home Western Conference Player of the Week honors. But rest assured, it was well deserved, as Rudy has been an absolute beast to start the season.
Despite a shortened offseason after playing in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics for France, Gobert appears to be playing with an energy and relentlessness that many of his opponents this year simply cannot match. While playing for France, Gobert became a featured offensive player again, showing that he can punish mismatches in the post. That aggressiveness seems to have carried over to the NBA season, and it has him playing like a man possessed to start this year.

His points per game (16.3), rebounds per game (17.2), and field goal percentage (72.1%) would all shatter his career highs, should he sustain them for a whole season. And while many other star players are struggling with the increased physicality allowed around the basket, Gobert is getting to the line 8.3 times per game - three more than he did last season.
His main opponent tonight will be the Kings’ man in the middle, Richaun Holmes. Holmes has not fared well against Gobert in the past, with Rudy averaging 13.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocks in the 12 games he has played against Holmes in his career per Statmuse - which though lower than his current torrid pace, are all above his career averages.
PICK: OVER 28.5 POINTS, REBOUNDS AND ASSISTS (-113)
HARRISON BARNES OVER/UNDER 17.5 POINTS
De'Aaron Fox may still be the Kings’ franchise player, but it’s pretty clear that right now at least, Harrison Barnes is their best overall player.
41% of Barnes’ shot attempts are coming at the rim, and another 41% are 3s, per Cleaning the Glass. That is about as analytically-friendly a shot chart as you will ever see from a non-superstar player, and it helps that so far he’s completely on fire from deep at 45.5%. Barnes is also doing this while increasing his number of self-created shots. 80% of his 3s have been unassisted, which is down from 89% last season.
In short, Barnes has been a spectacular offensive player to start the season. Utah’s wing defense is not among their greatest strengths either, as Joe Ingles and Bojan Bogdanović have both slowed down in their 30s, and the Kings like to run, boasting the fourth highest pace in the league this year. I expect Barnes to get progressively better looks as the game goes on, particularly from beyond the arc.
PICK: OVER 17.5 POINTS (+100)
DONOVAN MITCHELL OVER/UNDER 36.5 POINTS, REBOUNDS, AND ASSISTS
It has been a bit of a struggle to start the year for Donovan Mitchell. He still commands a sky-high usage rate at 33.3%, which is third in the league overall, and ahead of stars like Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo. But he’s struggling from deep and from the floor, leading to just a 47.9% effective field goal percentage.

And that's before we get to his opposition tonight, Davion Mitchell. Davion Mitchell, though a rookie, has already proven himself to be one of the most tenacious on-ball defenders in the entire NBA. Davion’s nickname is "Off Night" - as in when you’re guarded by him, you’re going to have one. The two Mitchell’s faced off already on during the Kings' home opener, and Donovan shot just 9-for-25 with five turnovers, in no small part due to Davion’s ball-hawking.
Donovan is bound to break out his slump sooner or later, that’s what stars of his caliber do. But I wouldn’t bet on it happening against Davion Mitchell tonight.
PICK: UNDER 36.5 POINTS, REBOUNDS, AND ASSISTS
