Hawks vs. Knicks: The best player prop bets for Game 5

The New York Knicks’ storybook season could come to an abrupt end tonight when they face the Atlanta Hawks at 7:30 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden.

New York finds itself in a perilous 3-1 hole after being badly outgunned 113-96 in Game 4. Trae Young led the Hawks with 27 points in 33 minutes, but he received plenty of support as five other players finished in double figures. Atlanta led by as many as 26 points in the third quarter before the Knicks made things slightly more respectable in the final frame.

If the Hawks win tonight, they’ll advance to the second round of the NBA playoffs for the first time since 2016. If the Knicks lose, they’ll be left scratching their heads, wondering where it all went wrong after finishing as the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference.

We’ve examined the matchup closely and have selected the three best players props to wager on.

Clint Capela to record a double-double

Clint Capela double-doubles may not be quite as dependable as death and taxes, but they’re close. The Hawks center posted 48 double-doubles in 63 regular season games, and is coming off of back-to-back double-doubles in his last two games against the Knicks.

Capela looked especially lethal in Game 4, as he used his exceptional size and athleticism to score 10 points and haul in 15 boards. With Mitchell Robinson unavailable and Tom Thibodeau opting to go small with Taj Gibson in the middle, New York simply didn’t have an answer for the “Swiss Bank.” Expect a similarly dominant performance tonight.

Danilo Gallinari Over/Under 10.5 points

Danilo Gallinari struggled with a litany of injuries during the regular season, but he's come alive in the playoffs. The 32-year-old sharpshooter had 12 points on 4-8 shooting in Game 3, and contributed 21 points on 6-9 shooting in Game 4. Gallinari is among the most battle-tested players on Nate McMillan's roster, and will be ready to answer the bell when his name is called tonight.

Expect 11 points or more as "The Rooster" continues to pick the Knicks apart from the perimeter.

Trae Young Over/Under 9.5 assists

Although best known for being an electric scorer, Trae Young is also a dynamic passer with a penchant for setting up his teammates with pinpoint dimes. The former No. 5 pick averaged a career high 9.4 assists per game during the regular season, and has already surpassed that total twice in this series. Young was particularly sharp in Game 3, as he dished out 14 assists while turning the ball over just twice.

The Knicks will continue to hound Young in the half court tonight, and the 22-year-old guard will continue to seek out his open teammates. So long as Gallinari, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and John Collins remain hot, this prop is a lock.
