FanEx Sports NBA Daily Fantasy Recap for 2/12/2014
Wednesday night was a great way to end the first half of the season (granted there are still two games tonight), but last night featured 13 games with 9 games ending with a single digit margin. Some stars led their respective teams and some fell short not reaching their fantasy value.
There were two game winners: James Harden made a nice layup with .7 seconds left to lift the Rockets past the Wizards for their 7th straight win, and LeBron James drilled a fade-away three pointer at the buzzer to bury the Warriors chances of a heroic comeback from 21 points down.
Paul George and the Indiana Pacers fell short against Monta Ellis and the Mavericks as no Pacer scored more than 14 points in the game.
The Knicks have allowed three opposing guards to drop their career high in scoring on them, and last night Jimmer Fredette made it four opposing guards as he dropped his career high (24 points) as the Kings defeated the Kincks in OT.
The Cavaliers won their fourth straight game, the first time to do that since LeBron left town, thanks to the great play of Kyrie Irving down the stretch including his dagger 3-pointer that sealed the victory with 30 seconds remaining.
Lastly, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin continued to roll as they defeated the Blazers for the 5th straight time in LA behind Blake's 36 points and Paul's 20 points and 12 assists.
Top 5 Studs from last night:
- LeBron James: James backed up his statement about being on the NBA all-time Mt. Rushmore with his performance last night. LeBron saved the day for the Heat when he hit the game winning 3-pointer to stifle the 21 point comeback by the Warriors. Overall, Lebron scored 36 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and dished out 9 assists in the 111 to 110 victory at Oracle Arena leading to 60 FanEx points. Going into the All-Star break, Durant and LeBron are on another level from everyone else in the league, so it is going to be a fun ride to watch the rest of the season to see who becomes the league MVP.

- Kevin Love: Love was nothing but spectacular last night dominating the game on every aspect. Love went for 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists leading to 52 FanEx points and ultimately leading the Timberwolves to blowout win over the Nuggets. Over the last three games, Love has scored over 40 FanEx points in each of those, so he heads into the All-Star Break as one of the hottest fantasy producers in the Center position, so look for him to continue his hot hand when he returns to action next Wednesday against the Pacers.
- Trevor Ariza: Ariza has been the perfect fit into the Wizards system averaging 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists this season, and last night he caught fire from behind the arc. Ariza made 6 3-pointers in the 3rd quarter alone finishing with 10 3-pointers leading to 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists (52 FanEx points). Although the Rockets got the victory, this game should be encouraging for fantasy players moving forward as Ariza is a good value fill-in for the rest of the season.
- James Harden: Harden has had a sub-par season in terms of fantasy due to his inconsistent play and possibly the arrival of Dwight Howard. The Rockets have now won 7 straight games and last night Harden was the hero making a nice layup with .7 seconds to seal the victory, and he finished with 45 FanEx points. Harden seems to be finding his mojo and working well with new teammate Dwight Howard, so look for the Rockets to be right in the mix to come out of the West.
- Blake Griffin & Carmelo Anthony: Both Blake and Carmelo finished with 46 FanEx points last night. Blake continued his hot hand scoring over 30 points in four of his last 5 contests, and with running mate Chris Paul back in the mix, the Clippers look primed to make a run for the Championship in the second half of the season. Carmelo dropped 17 points in the first quarter alone and finished with 36 points on the night, but was out shined by the career-high from Jimmer and the Kings victory in OT. It will be interesting to see where Carmelo lands after the season is over. My guess is that he leaves NY due to this roller-coaster nightmare of a season.
