Tuesday's and Thursday's are small NBA days, but tonight on TNT we have two solid games with playoff positioning to play for. The Spurs won their 19th straight game last night against the Warriors with another balanced attack. Tonight the top two seeds in the West face off in what could be a precursor to the Western Conference finals showdown in June. This game is more important for the Thunder than the Spurs who are only a game and a half up on the Clippers for the second seed in the West, but surprisingly the Thunder have defeated the Spurs all three times this season.
If the Western Conference playoff race for 7th and 8th place isn't a sign that the West is more competitive than the East then I don't know what is. All three teams, Dallas, Memphis, and Phoenix, would be sitting comfortably in East tied for 3rd place. What should happen is the loser of this three team battle should get the last seed in the East... It would make the Heat's first round at least watchable. Tonight the Clippers take on the Dallas Mavericks, who they have beaten 3 times this season.
Player Highlights:
J.J. Redick - Redick is slotted to possibly return tonight for the Clippers and start at the SG position. With Crawford again again tonight, you might want to consider thinking about adding Redick to your lineups only priced at $18. Even if he doesn't get a ton of minutes he could easily reach value on a night with limited options.
Kevin Durant - On a night with two games and one of the teams is the Spurs, Durant is the biggest name on tonight's roster options. I would be shocked if he isn't owned in 100% of rosters tonight given the season he is having and the success the Thunder have had over the Spurs this season.
Darren Collison - I talked about Collison yesterday along with Chris Paul, and tonight I like Collison again going up against the Mavericks. Last two games out, he has averaged 25-points, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds which are fantastic numbers for a back-up point guard. Priced at $30.85, I think Collison is the perfect second guard for your rosters tonight.
Tiago Splitter - With only 4 enters really worth taking tonight, Splitter is the cheapest option with the biggest upside. The Thunder don't have a solid presence in the middle and the Spurs are on fire, so I think Splitter will have tons of opportunities on the glass to get decent value out of tonight's game. Fantasy wise for the Spurs, it is a crab shoot as to who will lead the team in fantasy points that night, so I would be weary of taking too many Spurs.
Matt Barnes - I would be a lot higher on Barnes tonight if Redick is not playing. Without Redick, Barnes has been solid scoring in double figures in his last 5 games, but with Redick back in the lineup Barnes's value takes a minor hit. Wait and see what the Redick status is closer to game time and then pull the trigger on Barnes if Redick sits or sounds limited in minutes.
