2020 NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Heat Game 3 odds, pick & prediction
Though the Miami Heat showed signs of life in Game 2, the Los Angeles Lakers cruised to a 124-114 win. With the Lakers in prime position to put the Heat in a 3-0 hole, is there anything stopping the Lakers from taking a commanding lead?
Game 3 of the 2020 NBA Finals tips off on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. ET, and BetAmerica has a preview and pick for the big game.
Heat couldn't narrow the gap in Game 2
The shorthanded Heat are no match for the Lakers. Game 2 showed that they could only get close, but not close enough to really turn the tide of a series that has the look of a sweep written all over it. In the first half of Game 2, the Lakers already had the game locked up before a third quarter surge put the Heat within 10 points, but no closer.
Davis and James have been unstoppable
What seems to be the biggest question of this series is whether LeBron James or Anthony Davis will be crowned series MVP. James and Davis have gone tit-for-tat in each game, and seeing as Miami has no one capable of stopping them, they should once again have their way in Game 3. It isn’t outside the realm of possibility the two will once again score more than 30 points each. They’re making it look too easy out there.
Try as they might, Jimmy Butler alone can’t steal a game. Tyler Herro and Jae Crowder tried to stand in for the injured Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo, and while the Heat did play better while resting their injured stars, those two couldn’t put together a strong enough effort to help Butler out. Even if Dragic and Adebayo return from their injuries, it will take a Herculean effort for them to reverse their fortunes.
James and Davis would be too much for a healthy Heat team to deal with, so this hobbled squad doesn’t stand a chance. Expect the Lakers’ stars to put up plenty of points and take the wind out of Miami’s sails with a crushing win.
