A crossroads clash between Rob Font and Jose Aldo is the main event of the Dec. 4 edition of UFC Fight Night. Let's examine their bout, beginning with the latest betting odds.
Font seeks another legendary victim
Font is coming off the best performance of his career when he jabbed the life out of Cody Garbrandt last May, easily defeating the former champion. Not only did he rise to the occasion, he passed with flying colors and now has a chance to add another legend to his resume.
Behind a disciplined striking attack and a sturdy chin, Font can attack at multiple angles and can be dangerous on the ground. He lands 5.58 significant strikes per minute and hasn’t been knocked out in his pro career.

Aldo needs all his tricks to win
After a three-fight skid, Aldo looked impressive in wins over Marlon Vera and Pedro Munhoz. Though it might be too early to call it a career resurgence, there is a lot to like when it comes to Aldo pulling off a minor upset.
Like Garbrandt, Aldo is a tremendous striker with a lot of experience, but he’ll be in tough trying to offset Font’s volume. Where Aldo can find success is exploiting Font’s takedown defense and making something happen on the ground.
Font should edge Aldo by decision
The veteran has looked good in his last two fights, but those opponents were well below Aldo’s class. Font has the looks of a contender, and he’ll be hard to deny a title shot with back-to-back wins of fan favorites. Though it’s not out of the question that Aldo can grind Font down and force him off his rhythm, Font can transition from volume striking to poking on the outside with his jab and leg kicks to keep Aldo at bay.
The only avenue to victory Aldo has is taking Font down. Should this stay as a regular striking match, it will resemble the Garbrandt fight, though Aldo will have his moments late in the bout.
Font has never looked better in his career, and that momentum will carry over on fight night. Aldo will be game, but Font has more in his tank than the well-traveled Aldo. Expect Font to avoid the mat, and secure a decision victory with a steady volume attack.
