UFC Fight Night: Anderson Silva vs. Uriah Hall odds and pick
The legendary career of Anderson Silva is coming to an end, and Silva intends to go out with a bang at the expense of Uriah Hall.
UFC Fight Night: Hall vs. Silva on Saturday, Oct. 31 is sure to be an unforgettable night of action, and we have the odds, analysis, and a pick for this historic night of MMA action.
Sentimentality and inactivity are the X factors
Ahead of what is expected to be “The Spider’s” farewell fight, he really couldn’t have picked a worse opponent.
Silva is 1-6, with one no contest, over his last eight fights. He can’t move, strike, or grapple competently and concedes every advantage to the top 10 middleweight.
It’s been more than a year since Hall stepped in the octagon, but he is on a two-fight winning streak and hasn’t accumulated the miles Silva has.
We’ve seen Hall get bombed out by some solid strikers, so there is some chance Silva can make magic happen.
Silva must catch Hall early
Silva can still fight in spurts. He is accurate and knows all the tricks of the trade, but pacing is the key. If he can get Hall to fight slow, or at least clinch him to stunt his momentum, then Silva has a chance to win.
Knowing Silva’s tendency to showboat, he might have a moment where he is feeling himself and will try to clown Hall, but that won’t do him good if he is getting worked over.
Hall is vulnerable in the early rounds. Of his five knockout losses, he has been stopped in the first round four times. It wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for Silva to let it all go from the start, with the hope to catch Hall with a looping shot, so Hall needs to keep his guard up and keep Silva at bay with jabs and leg kicks.
Hall will take Silva out early
While it is sad to see Silva go, it has been a long time coming. Why the UFC continues to parade his bones, when he is so far past his prime, is borderline cruel, and Hall might find compassion and refuse to commit punishing shots.
But if Silva makes a go of it, Hall won't think twice about putting his opponent out.
Hall will end Silva’s career by the end of the first round.
UFC Fight Night pick: Hall (-235)
