UFC Fight Night 154: Renato Moicano vs. Chan Sung Jung preview

Renato Moicano will take on Chan Sung Jung at UFC Fight Night 154 feature in Greenville, South Carolina, but Saturday's event also features quality bouts on the undercard.

Women's Flyweights

Andrea Lee 10-2-0 (-205) vs. Montana De La Rosa 10-4-0 (+165)

Lee appears to have the better stand-up skills. She lands 5.57 significant strikes per minute compared to De La Rosa, who lands 3.46 significant strikes per minute. Lee also has a 1 1/2-inch reach advantage.

Lee's takedown average of 1.5 every 15 minutes is slightly better than La Rosa's average of 1.25. The real key will be whether Lee can use the extra reach to keep De La Rosa from going for the takedown. If Lee does that, and there's no reason to believe she won't, she wins this.

Welterweights

Bryan Barberena 14-6-0 (-270) vs. Randy Brown 10-3-0 (+215)

Both Barbarena and Brown head into this match off a loss. Barbarena is the more aggressive stand-up fighter and lands 5.9 significant strikes per minute, compared to Brown, who only lands 2.89.

But Brown has some major physical advantages. He's 3 inches taller, and has a 5 1/2-inch reach advantage. It's tough to look past those aspects, so we'll side with the underdog.

Renato Moicano 13-2-1 (-215) vs. Chan Sung Jung 14-5-0 (+175)

Moicano has been in better form, but anybody who watches MMA knows Chan is a tough fighter.

The key in this bout could be how well Chan handles Moicano's height. Moicano is 5-foot-11, while Chan stands at 5-foot-7. For Chan to defeat Renato on Saturday, he must close the distance and get between Renato's hands to get the fight to the ground. Chan has an excellent ground game, and that's where he wants this battle to end up. He's the play.
