UFC 255: Figueiredo vs. Perez betting odds and preview
The main event of UFC 255 on Saturday, Nov. 21 will pit flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo (19-1-0) against the streaking Alex Perez (24-5-0).
Let's take a look at the betting odds and make a pick for the night’s headlining attraction.
UFC 255: Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Alex Perez
Big little champ
It is hard to imagine how much longer Figueiredo can stay at flyweight. He is so huge and strong that it’s only a matter of time before he runs roughshod at bantamweight. The wipeout of Joseph Benavidez in Figueiredo's title-winning effort emphasized his strength, as he basically ended the fight with the first shot he landed.

Five rounds is a long time to be in the octagon with a fighter who hits like a tank and has decent agility, but Figueiredo is also explosive on the ground.
Despite a three-fight win streak, Perez has quite the assignment, to wrest the title from the champ.
Perez needs to fight in the danger zone
The worst part about defusing a bomb is that it requires someone to stand in front of it until the job is done. That sums up Perez’s path to victory.
We’ve seen Perez display some capable striking, to go along with his groundwork, but he is an easy target and a smaller man.
A hit-and-run strategy would serve him well, if this were a three-round fight. Perez has to hang in there if he wants to take the fight to the ground, but Figueiredo will have him right where he wants him.
Barring a shock submission, Perez is in for a short night, once Figueiredo closes the distance.
The "God of War" will drop the hammer
On paper, Figueiredo comprehensively beats Perez in every way. Figueiredo is too explosive in the stand up and too strong on the ground. Perez will try to frustrate Figueiredo, with the hope to get the champ off balance for takedowns, but if Figueiredo doesn’t respect Perez's power, he’ll just line him up for the go-home shot.
Figueiredo should win by stoppage (-225), but a bet on the fight going Over 1.5 rounds (-172) is the best call
MMA pick: Figueiredo by stoppage (-225)
