The 5 best prop bets for UFC 265
UFC 265 is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 7 in Houston, Texas, and features a card stacked with competitive bouts. We've examined the slate closely and have included the five best prop bets below.
Casey Kenney moneyline
Kenney is a narrow favorite, but his fluid style and superior striking will earn him the win over Song Yadong. Bettors might also want to take a look at Kenney by decision at +162, but Yadong’s telegraphed offense could lead to a takedown that ends the fight. The smart call here is Kenney on the moneyline.
Vicente Luque, group rounds 1-2 (+280)
In a bout between two streaking welterweights, Luque’s edge in accuracy and better resume should secure him an early when, especially if Michael Chiesa insists on shooting for a takedown. Luque is absolutely dangerous when his opponents can’t smother him or have a lacking outside striking game. This could get ugly early, but Luque wrapping it up before the second is a great pickup at +280.
Tecia Torres to win by decision (+160)
Torres and Angela Hill are roughly as good as they were when they first fought five years ago, and Torres was able to outpoint Hill. Based on recent form alone, Torres has looked better and shouldn’t have any problems scoring on Hill’s leaky defense. Though Torres did win her last fight by stoppage, she’ll beat Hill by points here.
Jose Aldo to win by decision (+162)
In our preview for the co-feature, Aldo’s experience and better striking technique was enough to make us pick the fight for the legend. Pedro Munhoz’s chin and physical strength will prevent him from getting stopped, but Aldo has enough left in the tank to beat him up and cruise to a decision win.
Ciryl Gane vs. Derrick Lewis Over 4.5 rounds (+135)
Gane is a methodical operator and Lewis is a slow starter. When those two factors come into play, this is a fight that will certainly go into the later rounds and lead to a possible decision win for Gane. Lewis does take a round or so to get his offense going, and there is always a possibility he’ll slump Gane in the closing moments of the bout. Though we backed Gane by decision in our preview, a better pick for bettors would be picking the Over at +135.
