The 5 best bets for UFC 271
UFC 271 hits Houston this Saturday, Feb. 12, and there's no shortage of intriguing bouts across multiple weight classes. We've examined the card closely and have selected the five best pop bets for fight night.
Bobby Green by Decision (+140)
Green has emerged into a moderate favorite after this fight opened almost as apick ‘em, but a decision is the likely method of victory here for either man. Nasrat Haqparast is fresh off getting rolled by Dan Hooker in his last fight, and Green is a swarmer who doesn’t have the mileage Hooker does. Green by decision is the way to bet here.
Kyler Phillips to win in rounds 1-2 (-115)
Phillips is the biggest favorite on the main card in his bout against Marcelo Rojo, but taking the group round bet for rounds 1 and 2 yields better odds. The younger Phillips should be energized to bounce back after a tough loss to Raulian Paiva, and Rojo doesn’t have the tools or class to make it to a decision. If you're inclined to pick Phillips as a parlay booster, this is the way to go.
Jared Cannonier by KO, TKO, or DQ (+120)
Cannonier’s big punching power and Derek Brunson’s flimsy chin makes this an attractive pick. The upset-minded Brunson has been on a run as of late thanks to his relentless wrestling, but he won’t be able to muscle Cannonier around. With five of his six losses coming by KO, take Cannonier to end Brunson’s run.
Derrick Lewis, Round 1 (+130)
Taking Lewis to win by KO is always a safe pick. The best prop for the co-main is Lewis touching Tuivasa up early and stopping him in the first. Tuivasa is going to go right at Lewis, putting himself right in the danger zone of one of the strongest strikers in the division. It’ll be a short night for Tuivasa, but a big win for your wallet at +130.
Israel Adesanya by decision (+150)
In our preview for the main event, we acknowledged that Robert Whittaker should be better than he was in their first fight, but Adesanya is just on another level. A wrestling-heavy approach by Whittaker may slow things down early, but Adesanya’s complete skill set will leave Whittaker at a loss. A methodical start should lead to a decision win for "The Last Stylebender."
