Poirier vs. McGregor: The best betting props for UFC 257
The first major UFC event of 2021 is set for Saturday, Jan. 23 from Fight Island.
We have the picks and analysis you need prior to Conor McGregor's heavily hyped return at UFC 257, where he'll take on Dustin Poirier. Here are the top props to play ahead of the fight.
Dustin Poirier to win by submission (+1000)
If one is looking for big action on Poirier, look no further. We’ve seen Poirier’s impressive ground game, even to the point where he nearly submitted Khabib Nurmagomedov a few fights ago.
The longer the fight lasts, the more likely McGregor will tire and be susceptible to a submission attempt, as he has in the past.
Conor McGregor to win in Rounds 3-4 (+650)
While McGregor looked like a beast against the faded Donald Cerrone at welterweight, Poirier is a far better opponent, and McGregor is unlikely to score a similar outcome.
Poirier is going to give McGregor a rough fight, but even if he does succumb to McGregor again, it won’t be until after they’ve both landed some wicked shots. McGregor scoring a stoppage in Round 3 or Round 4 is solid +650
Dustin Poirier to win and Over 4.5 (+600)
If Poirier wins at any point beyond the halfway point of the final round, including a decision, it’s a huge pickup for those thinking he’ll take McGregor to deep waters. Poirier is heavily undervalued in this fight, but this is a risky pick worth looking at.
Conor McGregor to win in Round 3 (+900)
In our preview for this fight, we figured McGregor is still going to be too much for Poirier to handle.
While McGregor’s boasts of a quick KO might be a bit much, considering Poirier’s improvement since their first bout, McGregor’s size and awkwardness will wear Poirier down and put him out in the third.
While McGregor winning the fight beyond the halfway point of the second is a safer pick, signs are pointing to a stoppage, and that should come in the third round.
