Ariane Lipski will steal the show at UFC 255
With several big fights on the UFC 255 card, there are quite a few that stand out.
Antonina Shevchenko, the older sister to Valentina Shevchenko, hopes to notch the biggest win of her career against Ariane Lipski. Unfortunately for Antonina, it is time for Lipski to step into the spotlight.
Lipski is being overlooked
Lipski is a minor underdog and is being overlooked, with both Shevchenko sisters headed to the octagon at UFC 255. Antonina is a decent competitor, but her all-time great sister she is certainly not.
Valentina is one of the most dominant champions in UFC’s history, but Antonina has lagged behind.
The older Shevchenko is 1-2 in her last three fights and lost her last bout, against Katlyn Chookagian, earlier this year.
Lipski is a rough customer and too big of a step up for Shevchenko, even if she is being marketed as a rebound opponent. There was nothing in the Chookagian fight that stood out for Antonina, and will go up against an opponent with everything to gain in victory.
Antonina being matched too tough
Antonina may be 8-2, but she is still a developmental talent and is going to need a lot of work to be favorably compared to her sister.
Lipski is aggressive as a striker and a competent grappler. She is also seven years younger than Antonina and has faced better opposition. If Lipski wins, she will almost certainly find herself on Valentina’s radar for a much bigger fight down the road.
Lipski will prevail in a barn burner
Make no mistake, Antonina isn’t a hapless fighter. What she doesn’t have in technique, she makes up in grit, and that means she is willing to get dusty if the fight doesn’t go her way. This could end up being a war of wills that could steal the show.
After the blood is spilled and the last bell rings, expect Lipski to take the win and all the buzz.
