Boston Red Sox (40-34) at Minnesota Twins (47-24), 8:10 p.m. ET
David Price (4-2, 3.52 ERA) (BOS) -120 / -1.5 runs (+125) / Over 9.5 runs (-115) Michael Pineda (4-3, 5.04 ERA) (MIN) +110 / +1.5 runs (-150) / Under 9.5 runs (-105)MLB free play: Twins moneyline
The Twins, still hanging with the top teams in baseball, appear to be getting disrespected by oddsmakers Tuesday night, as they're slight underdogs against the Red Sox.Michael Pineda will start for Minnesota, and his 1.008 WHIP over his last seven outings suggests he'll give Boston's bats a hard time. Pineda has struggled with runners in scoring position this season (.281), but the Red Sox offense has been middling in those important RBI spots this year, ranking 12th by batting average.
David Price will take the hill for Boston, and he faces the Twins' top-rated lineup by batting average and OPS against lefties (.300, .882, respectively). Price has fared even worse than Pineda with runners in scoring position this season, posting a .327 batting average against. The Twins' lineup is fifth by batting average in those spots at .275. Nelson Cruz, sitting at .311 in June with six homers and 12 RBIs, has nine hits (including two home runs) in 31 career at-bats against Price.
Colorado Rockies (37-34) at Arizona Diamondbacks (38-35), 9:40 p.m. ET
Antonio Senzatela (5-5, 5.48 ERA) (COL) +125 / +1.5 runs (-160) / Over 10 runs (-120) Merrill Kelly (7-6, 3.73 ERA) (ARZ) -135 / -1.5 runs (+135) / Under 10 runs (EVEN)MLB free play: Diamondbacks moneyline
Expect the Diamondbacks' bats to tee off on Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela on Tuesday night in a facile victory.Senzatela usually struggles against Arizona. Dating back to 2016 he's pitched to a 5.60 ERA in 35 1/3 innings of work against the Diamondbacks. Infielders Nick Ahmed and Eduardo Escobar and center fielder Ketel Marte are a combined 13-for-30 (.433) all-time against the hurler from Venezuela.
Merrill Kelly will counter for Arizona, and he's been a tough nut for opposing hitters to crack at Chase Field this year, with a 2.35 ERA in six starts. His strikeout/walk ratio at home is an impressive 8.75. Colorado's batting average is .312 at Coors Field, but that figure drops substantially to .226 on the road.
