Two of the National League's best starters since the All-Star break collide in Game 2 of the NLDS, as the Cardinals' Jack Flaherty (11-8, 2.75 ERA) meets Mike Foltynewicz (8-6, 4.54 ERA) and the Braves at SunTrust Park on Friday afternoon.
Flaherty went 7-2, with a 0.91 ERA and .142 opponent batting average, in 15 second-half starts. However, the young starter was 4-4 with a 3.13 ERA in 17 total starts outside Busch Stadium. His WHIP rose from 0.790 at home to 1.147 as a visitor. He'll have to tread carefully with Atlanta second baseman Ozzie Albies, who has 22 hits in his last 60 at-bats.
Foltynewicz is 6-1 with a 2.65 ERA in his last 10 starts, following a rough beginning to the campaign. St. Louis first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, one of the few Redbirds batters hitting well down the stretch, is just 4-for-21 (.190) all-time against Foltynewicz.

The Nationals will turn to Stephen Strasburg (18-6, 3.32 ERA) on short rest following his three-inning, 34-pitch shutout of the Brewers in a must-win Wild Card Game on Tuesday night. He'll take on Clayton Kershaw (16-5, 3.03 ERA) and the Dodgers in Game 2 of the NLDS. Based on postseason splits, Washington appears to be worth a wager.
Strasburg has tossed 22 innings in the postseason and has surrendered just one earned run. His strikeout/walk ratio in that span is 7.00. The San Diego native faced the Dodgers twice during the season and went 1-1, with a 2.08 ERA and .140 opponent batting average. NL MVP candidate Cody Bellinger (2-for-15) is among the L.A. batters that have struggled with Strasburg in the past.
