The White Sox had a rough month of July, with a 7-17 record, but the South Siders appear to be trending north after they took two of three from the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park over the weekend. With their ace Lucas Giolito on the hill, they'll face the free-falling Tigers at Comerica Park on Monday nightGiolito has recorded a quality start in three of his last four outings. He's performed better on the road than at home this year, with a 2.76 ERA outside of Guaranteed Rate Field, where his ERA is 4.10. This is the first time Giolito is facing the Tigers, who have dropped 43 of their last 53 games this season.
Spencer Turnbull, who owns a 5.34 ERA in seven appearances since June 5, slides back into Detroit's rotation on Monday night after a brief IL stint. The Tigers are 1-10 in their last 11 games behind him. Left fielder Eloy Jimenez and shortstop Tim Anderson, each of whom only recently rejoined Chicago's lineup after missing large chunks of July due to injury, are both hitting well since the calendar flipped to August.
Atlanta Braves (66-47) at Minnesota Twins (69-42), 8:10 p.m. ET
Mike Soroka (10-2, 2.37 ERA) (ATL) -105 / -1.5 runs (+135) / Over 10 runs (-115) Jake Odorizzi (12-5, 3.73 ERA) (MIN) -105 / +1.5 runs (-160) / Under 10 runs (-105)MLB free play: Under
