Monday MLB preview: Orioles at Rays, Angels at Rangers
Baltimore Orioles (24-59) at Tampa Bay Rays (48-36), 7:10 p.m. ET
Tom Eshelman (MLB debut) (BAL) +220 / +1.5 runs (-105) / Over 9 runs (-105) Ryne Stanek (0-1, 2.76 ERA) (TB) -250 / -1.5 runs (-125) / Under 9 runs (-115)MLB free play: Rays runline
The Rays are likely to top the Orioles in a "bullpen game" at Tropicana Field.Ryne Stanek will be on the hill first for Tampa, and he had an excellent month of June, with just four earned runs over 13 1/3 innings (10 appearances). He has a 0.73 ERA at home this year and has allowed opponents to bat just .186 against him in 24 2/3 innings. Stanek will probably be followed by Ryan Yarbrough, who has pitched effectively against this Baltimore lineup in the past. Left fielder Trey Mancini is 0-for-6 against Yarbrough with two strikeouts.
Tom Eshelman is expected to be promoted from Triple-A Norfolk in order to start for the O's. Formerly in the Phillies system, Eshelman has a 4.05 ERA with the Tides this season (20 innings). Tampa shortstop Willy Adames, who owns a .977 OPS in his last seven games, should aid the Rays' cause. Eshelman will be backed by an Orioles bullpen that's 29th by ERA in 2019 (6.02).
Los Angeles Angels (42-43) at Texas Rangers (46-38), 8:05 p.m. ET
Jose Suarez (2-1, 5.57 ERA) (LAA) +120 / +1.5 runs (-160) / Over 10.5 runs (-115) Mike Minor (8-4, 2.40 ERA) (TEX) -130 / -1.5 runs (+135) / Under 10.5 runs (-105)MLB free play: Rangers moneyline
Mike Trout and company are up against it Monday night in Texas.Mike Minor needed just 108 pitches to tame the Tigers on Wednesday, as he tossed nine innings of one-run ball. That helped the southpaw complete an outstanding June, when he pitched to a 1.70 ERA. Minor has dominated the Angels in two prior meetings this season and has allowed just one earned run in 15 innings of work against them.
Suarez surrendered five runs on eight hits and three walks in five innings against the Blue Jays on June 20, his most recent major-league effort. Texas' offense is third in baseball by runs per game at home this year (5.70), so bettors should expect the Rangers lineup to do well in this spot.
The All-Star break is getting closer, but there's still plenty of time to get down with regular-season baseball action on BetAmerica!
