MLB Tuesday Preview: Nationals at Phillies, Dodgers at Cardinals
Washington Nationals (4-5) at Philadelphia Phillies (7-2), 7:05 p.m. ET
Stephen Strasburg (1-0, 2.84 ERA) (WSH) +125 / +1.5 runs (-180) / Over eight runs (-110)Aaron Nola (1-0, 7.00 ERA) (PHI) -135 / -1.5 runs (+160) / Under eight runs (-110)
It will be tough sledding early for the lineups of the Nationals and Phillies on Tuesday night, as Washington’s Stephen Strasburg and Philadelphia’s Aaron Nola square off at Citizens Bank Park.
Strasburg is 5-0 with a 2.96 ERA in his last eight starts against the Phillies. First baseman Rhys Hoskins hit two home runs against Nationals pitching last night but is 1-for-10 against Strasburg with six strikeouts. Strasburg has beared down on the road since 2016, going 24-5 (34 starts) with a 2.52 ERA.
Nola aced Washington in five starts last year, going 3-1 with a 2.14 ERA. Nola pitched best at night a year ago, going 12-2 (19 starts) with a 1.98 ERA.
The Phillies’ bullpen is just 13th by ERA so far (3.73), while the Nationals’ relievers are the worst by the same metric (10.17 ERA). Bettors would be wise to take the Under in the first five innings only (four runs, -105).

Los Angeles Dodgers (8-3) at St. Louis Cardinals (5-5), 7:45 p.m. ET
Ross Stripling (0-0, 2.31 ERA) (LAD) -125 / -1.5 runs (+120) / Over 8.5 runs (-110)Dakota Hudson (0-1, 5.40 ERA) (STL) +115 / +1.5 runs (-140) / Under 8.5 runs (-110)
The hot-hitting Dodgers, led by first baseman Cody Bellinger (.435, seven homers, 19 RBIs), should avenge Monday night’s 4-3 loss to the Cardinals at Busch Stadium.
Dakota Hudson will make just his second big-league start for St. Louis, and his first could have gone much better. The Brewers tagged him for four runs (three earned) on seven hits, three home runs, and two walks March 30. Hudson made one relief appearance in the interim.
The reliable Ross Stripling counters for the Dodgers. Some Cardinals, like first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, have solid numbers against Stripling (5-for-16), but he has just one hit in the month of April (21 at-bats).
Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts had to get creative with his bullpen Monday night after Hyun-Jin Ryu went down in the second inning with a groin injury, but Caleb Ferguson, Scott Alexander, and closer Kenley Jansen should all be available here.
