MLB Tuesday Preview: Giants at Rockies, Mets at Padres

Bumgarner has pitched to a 3.28 FIP (fielding independent pitching) in his first seven starts of the season and owns great numbers against Colorado's best hitters. Third baseman Nolan Arenado and shortstop Trevor Story are just 17-for-77 (.221) combined against the San Francisco southpaw.
Senzatela has struggled to pitch deep into his first four games of 2019, due in part to his meager 1.63 strikeout/walk ratio. Giants first baseman Brandon Belt and second baseman Joe Panik own good lifetime numbers against the Venezuela native, at 5-for-14 (.357) and 8-for-18 (.444), respectively.

The fact that Syndergaard provided the game's only offense that day (a solo home run) speaks volumes about the present state of his team's lineup.
The Mets’ offensive tailspin continued Monday night, as they were shut out by Chris Paddack through 7 2/3 innings before veteran reliever Craig Stammen closed the door behind the rookie phenom. The Mets have now scored just seven runs in their last six games.
San Diego turns to yet another fine pitching prospect in Cal Quantrill on Tuesday night. He allowed only two runs on six hits in the hitter friendly SunTrust Park against the Braves on Wednesday in his major-league debut. Expect right fielder Hunter Renfroe and first baseman Eric Hosmer to once again lead the way on offense, as the Padres pull out the win as underdogs.
