MLB Tuesday Preview: Brewers at Phillies, Padres at Dodgers
Milwaukee Brewers (24-19) at Philadelphia Phillies (24-16), 7:05 p.m. ET
MLB Free Play: Under
Brandon Woodruff (5-1, 4.25 ERA) (MIL) -115 / +1.5 runs (-225) / Over 8.5 runs (-105) Jerad Eickhoff (2-1, 1.50 ERA) (PHI) +105 / -1.5 runs (+185) / Under 8.5 runs (-115)Two overachieving starters will be on the mound at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday night, as Brandon Woodruff and the Brewers take on Jerad Eickhoff and the Phillies.
Woodruff has settled into a groove in his last three outings, allowing just three earned runs combined through 16 innings. He's struck out 22 batters in that span and allowed just three walks.
Eickhoff has done very well this year, considering he wasn't on the opening day roster. Through five starts, his WHIP is just 0.967. In his last start, against the Cardinals on May 8, he threw eight shutout innings.
Several Milwaukee hitters have struggled against Eickhoff in the past, including third baseman Travis Shaw (0-for-5) and catcher Yasmani Grandal (1-for-5). As long as he doesn't have to face outfielder Christian Yelich (second in the NL in OPS at 1.198) in a tight spot, Eickhoff should do his part in helping Under bettors cash.
San Diego Padres (22-19) at Los Angeles Dodgers (27-16), 10:10 p.m. ET
MLB Free Play: Under
Chris Paddack (3-1, 1.55 ERA) (SD) +130 / +1.5 runs (-160) / Over 7 runs (-120) Clayton Kershaw (2-0, 3.31 ERA) (LAD) -145 / -1.5 runs (+135) / Under 7 runs (EVEN)Staff aces take the hill at Chavez Ravine on Tuesday night, as the Padres' Chris Paddack squares off with Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw.
Paddack has had a phenomenal rookie season so far, pitching to a 0.689 WHIP. Opponents are batting just .130 against him. Paddack is fresh off arguably his best start of the season, when he shut out the Mets through 7 2/3 innings while striking out 11.
Kershaw twirled yet another quality start against San Diego on May 3, when he limited their lineup to three runs on six hits and a walk at Petco Park. In 35 starts against the Padres, Kershaw is 18-6 with a 1.97 ERA. Bettors should be happy to get even money taking the Under in this one.
