Below are quicklinks to brief explanations of how these different types of MLB Futures Bets work at TwinSpires Sports:

What are MLB Futures Bets?

Think you know which MLB team will win the World Series this season? Or do you have a strong feeling that a certain pitcher will come on strong after the All-Star Break and take home this Cy Young for his league? Then check out MLB futures betting at TwinSpires Sports. The oddsmakers set odds for the major end of series awards and for the the respective division, league, and MLB championships. Throughout the year, odds are adjusted as the fortunes of teams rise and fall. By picking a solid "value" bet early in the season, savvy bettors have an opportunity to net big wins if they're willing to take a leap of faith early on.

With any futures bets, you'll typically see a "+" number next to any available wager. For example, +3000 odds for a team to win the World Series would mean that a bet of $100 would pay off $3,000 if that team ended up as champions. In rare instances, you may see a "-" number next to a team or player that is an overwhelming favorite for a championship or award. For example, -170 odds for a team to win their division would mean that a bet of $170 on that team would pay a $100 win if they ultimately prevailed as division champions.

Not only have the Mariners never reached the World Series, but they haven't even qualified for the playoffs since 2001. That's a tough pill to swallow for a team that has featured legendary played like Randy Johnson, Ichiro Suzuki, and Alex Rodriguez.

National League Championship Series (NLCS) Odds

The National League, established in 1876, is the older of MLB's two separate leagues. The game is played the same in both leagues, although unlike the American League, there is no Designated Hitter in the National League, and pitchers have to take at-bats each time through the lineup. Just like the World Series, odds are set at the beginning of each season for the chances of each of the 15 National League teams becoming league champions. Below are the latest NLCS odds available at TwinSpires Sports:

American League Championship Series (ALCS) Odds

While the American League, established in 1901, is the younger of MLB's two separate leagues, it has enjoyed more success in the World Series. From 1903 to 2018, the World Series has won by an American League team 66 times and a National League team just 48 times. Just like the World Series, odds are set at the beginning of each season for the chances of each of the 15 American League teams becoming league champions. MLB MVP Odds

Similar to picking teams to win their respective division, league, or the World Series championship, bettors can also wager on individual players to earn MVP honors for the AL and NL respectively. Perhaps a highly talented player gets off to a slow start the 1st two months of the season. By placing a wager on that player when their MVP odds are long, a bettor can potentially net a big payday if their pick catches fire in the second half of the season and takes home the award. Cy Young Odds

Just like making a bet on a prospective player to win NL or AL MVP, baseball bettors can also wager on which pitcher or pitchers they think have the best chance of taking home CY Young award honors at the end of the season. Below are the latest AL and NL Cy Young odds available at TwinSpires Sports:
